How so? Because he isn’t doing an impersonation of Martinet? Charlie Day sounds NOTHING like Luigi in the games. He changed his voice less then anybody for this movie. Toad and Peach also sound NOTHING like the game characters, and that’s just fine, but Pratt’s “wa-hoo” and Brooklyn accent isn’t? hE sHoUlD sOuNd LiKe ThE gAmE Because an hour and a half of high pitched Italian accent “YIPP-EEEE!” wouldn’t be annoying, and apparently Mario is the only character in the entire movie, that MUST sound like the game. Not Luigi, not Toad, or Peach or Bowser. You people are obnoxious.

@@garvensman Not to mention this is based on the og lore that they are from Brooklyn, as seen in a recent poster litterely showing them both IN brooklyn. Sure, the delivery sounds a tiny bit flat and not very brooklyn NY, but we don't know the context of these scenes, nor do we have the full picture. Being sceptical is one thing... throwing a hissy fit on social media over it is another, ESPECIALLY when everyone else is different (although I'd argue Jack Black will steal the show) If brooklyn OG fans can get used to martinets voice, then martinet fans can get used to this voice.

Modern film allowing Peach to be a ditzy blonde in distress that she is in the games? Never was going to happen. Oddly enough, everybody complaining that Mario doesn’t sound like he does in the games, has NO ISSUE with Peach being a super warrior badass, defeating the purpose of Mario saving the day, or literally no other character sounding even remotely like they do in the games. They just want wokeism and want to cry about Pratt, because he doesn’t worship at the woke altar.

@@garvensman to be fair Peach has been like this in some other mario content (haven’t seen it in the games) but she has gone warrior like this in other media, so that’s a big reason why people aren’t that upset with her role

@@animeweeblet207 Don’t get me wrong, I’m not upset with it either. I’m not shocked that they went this route. My greater point is so many people seem fixated on Mario being exactly like he is in the games, looks, voice and ability. They hate his voice, hate that he isn’t already a pro at fighting Bowser, and some even complain about his looks, yet these same exact people, love everything about Toad, Luigi and Peach, even though they don’t perfectly match their game counterparts.

@@garvensmanPeople are starting to throw "girl boss" around the same way race hustlers call anything racism. If people actually took a moment to pay attention to the trailer instead of being stuck on and assuming "Captain Peach" or "Peach Skywalker" because of a short scene where she picks up a halberd, the concept of "girl boss" doesn't fit here. One major element of "girl boss" is they aren't beholden to anyone. Twice in the trailer Peach's personality contradicts that. When she is talking to the Toads she says, "Together we can defeat that monster." And when she is talking to Mario she says, "They are relying on us." This doesn't fit the identity of a girl boss. Peach gives off a "we can do this together because I know I can't do it alone" mentality which is completely different to a Captain Marvel/Rey Skywalker, "I am a strong and brave HERo because I am a woman" mentality. If Peach had a "me" attitude and was confronting Bowser by herself that would be pushing girl boss.

@@jenniferhamels1176 I never used the phrase “girl boss.” I don’t even care that they didn’t make Peach like she is in the game universe. However, what I said is that it somewhat defeats the purpose of Mario. Not entirely though.
