Personally, I had always thought that Vegeta saw how flawed the SSJ3 form was, and decided not to bother with it, so I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one with this opinion.

I always felt like to “discover” SSJ3 for the first time it takes an ungodly amount of stamina/energy. You either have to be dead or during a fusion. Like a normal living Saiyan could never break through that initial wall.

SS3 was my favorite form. I remember the first time I saw it without any idea what was going to happen and I was truly amazed. By far the most intimidating form.

I love SSJ3 wish it was fleshed out more imagine training to tune down the energy consumption or something lol and i believe that is the case in super i see this form gets a lot of hate which sucks because its def one of my favorites

SSJ3 is my most favorite transformation. It encapsulates the meaning of being a sayain while adding a badass twist. It’s a shame it wasn’t used more.

I think Buu was the perfect type of Villain for the transformation to be exposed too. We get to see the progression of characters into power we have yet seen, Took the same trend with the Cell saga with Reaching new levels of power but Learning of its drawbacks right away(this keeps the arc from getting boring with the same old new form = Win). Depending on what Version you are watching you are told that 3 CAN defeat Buu. But it would need to be quick and decisive, a VERY hard thing to do against such a monster.

Super Saiyan three the best transformation for ending fights quickly and has the capability for great overkills wasn’t given to Vegeta The one transformation that fits his character perfectly but of course Akira Must’ve forgot that too

My personal favorites are UI and SSJ3. I guess I just like it when goku is more serious and not talking as much. And of course the looks.

I always thought SS3 was at its full potential in the buu saga, it's just that the form is flawed. you can train to make it last longer, but it will always drain your stamina completely eventually.

If Goku fought people in ssj3 form it would be over really quick because that's what the form is for and I think he can't master the form because he don't have a tail

My favorite transformation. Now this may be heresy to mention it, but it seems like in Super Dragon Ball Heroes Goku Black was able to unlock a “full power” SSJ3 featuring eyebrows and instant tail regrowing. Looks somewhat like a genuine precursor to SSJ4.

I think that even in Super, the Super Saiyan 3 transformation is still somewhat taxing for Goku as he even explains to Kale and Califa that the form burns up to much energy and he couldn't handle that at the moment. But than proceeds to transform into Super Saiyan God shortly after, as though the God form itself doesn't burn up as much energy and stamina as Super Saiyan 3. The issues with the God forms seem to be in the difficulty of actually transforming rather than maintaining the completed transformation. The regular Super Saiyan forms all seem to have increased difficulty in maintenance of the form that is only mitigated by conditioning their bodies to be more used to the form, while the God forms seem to not have the same type maintenance issue and can only better be utilized by understanding the form and being able to bring out the power of the form itself. Goku says it himself that the Super Saiyan Blue form requires a calm mind and a high level of Ki control to achieve and maintain the form. The God forms in effect require mental discipline and high levels of self awareness. This seems to be made the case even further with Ultra Instinct which challenges the user to step away from the seat of control entirely and allow subconscious impulses and instincts flow freely with out the restrictions of conscious thoughts. Subconscious Impulses being the attacks, while Instincts being the defence. The form requires a level discipline to maintain that is just unfathomably difficult and is why Goku literally couldn't hold on to the form for more than a couple minutes at a time.

I’ve always had a kinda silly theory that SSJ3 just takes all the hair on your body (Eyebrows, Pubic, Arm, and leg hair, etc.) and just throws it all into your head hair. This is probably not true but I’ve always just thought this was the gross case.

I would hope he mastered SSJ3 after those 4 years leading up to BoG. The only real reason I didn’t think he did was because in his fight with Kale and Caulifla he did say the form drains and that he wasn’t ready for it, but I guess he was tired. It just to me implied that it still drained

Super Saiyan 3 is my favorite Super Saiyan-transformation and I always wondered how Goku got this form. Part of me hopes to see how Goku achieved this form through a flashback in the continuation of Super. Perhaps in a remake of the Otherworld Tournament Saga?

This is some quality Dragonball content. I have been a fan of DBZ (Then Dragonball, then GT now Super, and yes as an American kid that is how we experienced it in the 90s lol) for as long as I can remember. I have been binging playlists and the information is spot on and I have yet to hear any massive over sights or obvious things that were not explained. I actually had worked with some friends years ago to create a d100 roleplaying system for DBZ. Looking forward to binging more vids

SSJ3 is my favorite transformation. Regarding Majin Vegeta vs Goku; I see it like this: When Goku got back to the look out after fighting Buu in SSJ3, Piccolo asked him if he could've beat Buu, and Goku says that he probably could but wants the Z fighters to take care of it because he wasn't always going to be around and at that time, was dead and only had a few hours left. With that logic, Vegeta lives to beat Goku. If Goku is back for a day, knowing Gokus nature, he would rather give Vegeta a good fight rather than humiliate him. If Goku went SSJ3, he would've stomped Vegeta, then went back to otherworld. Why not allow Vegeta to believe he matched Gokus power/possibly defeat him? Also, per Gokus word, if he went full power SSJ3 and not fooled around, he could've beat Kid Buu.

I’ve always thought that vegeta had already gotten the super sayian 3 form but simply refused to use it cause his fighting style is heavily based on ki attacks. Then take this with the massive energy drain of the form and it would be even worse for vegeta

Goku even said during the TOP against callifla that it still takes too much power when he showed them, he goes ss3 and powers rite back down saying it uses too much energy and he doesn’t have enough energy, so I’m sure it still uses energy even tho he perfected it.

I think I remember in one episode, Goku told vegeta he wasn’t sure he could maintain it. When vegeta said he found out about ssj3. Great info and channel btw

Super Saiyan 3 is actually my FAVOURITE Super Saiyan form out of all of them. Just the look & design of it just screams epicness & powerful. It's a shame that Goku no longer use this form in his arsenal.

It's kinda sad how ss3 is treated by the writers and the way it has so much potential.

I have a theory about SSJ3. In GT, Goku regrew his tail so he control his SSJ forms better. And before ANYBODY says ANYTHING, GT is still canon, it’s just an alternate timeline from Super. That is all. Basically, GT Goku’s child body wasn’t capable of controlling his Super Saiyan forms like his adult body could, so he regrew his tail leading to the fan favorite transformation of SSJ4. My theory is this, if Adult Goku had regrown his tail, he would have been able to perfect SSJ2, (Albeit SSJ2 doesn’t have a lot of stamina drain anymore anyway) and SSJ3. The reason GT Goku couldn’t do it was because he didn’t have an adult body, Adult Goku couldn’t do it because he had no tail…maybe…15+ years of training could help Goku perfect it, I wouldn’t put it past him. Exhibit A: As I already stated, GT Goku’s tail helped him control Super Saiyan better and regain SSJ3. Maybe it’s the power increase, but probably Ki Control too. Heck, even the first ever concept art for SSJ3 had a tail! Not to mention those eyebrows, good GOD the eyebrows. Exhibit B: Cumber. I know SDBH is not canon, but I thought this was interesting. Cumber has a form called SSJ3 Full Power. Think about it, what does Cumber have that Goku doesn’t, a tail! If Cumber has a tail, that explains how he can perfect SSJ3. TL;DR: Adult Saiyan Body + Tail + Training = Perfected SSJ4. I mean, makes sense to me, and I took evidence from official material(s). Even if I’m wrong about the tail being the key, Cumber showed us that a perfected SSJ3 is possible. (Albeit he isn’t canon.) It’s ok if you don’t agree with me here. I dunno, what do you all think…?

I like how dbz characters and transformation look so simple at the surface but if you do a deep dive analysis the concepts is pretty interesting.
