I love the fact that you can only learn what you train or practice. Going up in class skills that were never used during an adventure always seemed dumb to me (from the game we don't mention here.)

This game is so much better than many of the games that have come out the last 15, 20 years. One idea I had for my own game idea is to categorize skills as either Basic or Advanced. Basic skills are easy to learn, easy to grasp and requires fewer points or uses to increase the rating. Advanced skills require real education and training, and take a lot longer to learn after campaign begins. One of my ideas is when players get XP they have to assign those points on the skills they want to increase AND use downtime for education learning for Advanced skills. It would require some book keeping on the players part but they know they are investing their XP towards their own goals as well.

Thanks for another great video, and I like how the skills that are improved are the ones that are used. The possibilities offered by the system and setting of the game are so intriguing.

Good video. I like that you cannot improve an ability if you do not use it, or train it somehow. About being creative with abilities, as a game director you can take a look at one player sheet abilities and try to think in different ways or situations that would allow the players to try them in a new way. It is also a good way to create dungeons.

The spending of XP only on skills you used is something (I believe) Call of Cthulhu system uses. If you used the skill you have a chance to increase it by rolling and (correct me if I'm wrong) you roll percentile and if you roll over the skill you improve it, so low percentile skills are easy to easier to improve, and higher percentage skills are much harder as once you get high enough say '90+ you need to roll over, and if you had a 93 and roll a 9 and then roll the other single digit and it comes up a 3. You are going to feel that roll forever. NOOOOO, 1 more point to get over it. You are thinking 'Must play again soon so I can reuse that skill to get another reroll, daddy needs a new car'. It is like going to a Casino to see if you win big.

Like: Gaining skill points from using skills. Dislike: Not being able to improve stats. I like systems where even an old man can bulk up with enough effort. Don't get me wrong, I get that it's super hard as one gets older as I'm living that right now, but I like the option to improve attributes/stats as well.
