@@Odyssey_Central Those are really weird cases, because in the majority of languages all the FE characters names are the same, despite of gender, like in spanish, both Robins, Corrins and Byleths share the same name. I also know that in Japan Byleth has two names, depending on gender, but for some reason they don't have 2 voice lines, unlike Bayonetta that has two slots because in the Japanese version, in her Bayo 2 alt, she speaks Japanese, while in the Bayo 1 alt, she speaks English. It's really weird honestly.

As ive seem on wiki robin has a different voice line i may be not right but at some languaje the entonation for robin can be different refering to male or female versions Or it may be a leftover file because some dame could be different on another language

Because robin its the unique strange case for having 2 audios for a name

@@lumatello5563 The situation with Byleth in Japan is pretty odd. They even state in the Direct (in both Sakurai's dialogue and the English-interpreted version) that Bereto and Beresu are the male and female names in Japan while the English version has the all-encompassing Byleth. My guess is that "Byleth" is intended to be Japanese name, but the male's name is pronounced with a hard "t" sound while the female's pronounced with a more standard "th" sound (which is similar to "s" in some regions of the world). But even if that were the case, it seems odd that "Bereto/Beresu" are specifically mentioned in the Direct yet there's no indications of such names existing in the Japanese version's English text and dialogue, and you'd think they would've had Xander Mobus emphasize this pronunciation difference, but they just use his one exact same pronunciation in both languages, regardless of Byleth's gender. You know what else is odd? In Japan, it seems at a glance like they really went out of their way to promote both of Byleth's genders as roughly equals. Pretty much all promotional material for the fighter pack labeling the character as "Bereto/Beresu" (as opposed to just labeling it as "Bereto" due to the male being the default), while both genders are displayed on the fighter's profile link on the official site. www.smashbros.com/ja_JP/fighter/index.html In spite of this, when it came to the Everyone Is Here artwork, they just added male Byleth. I mean, after how much they emphasized both of them, you'd think they would've maybe had art of them standing back-to-back or something. It's all the more odd considering some of the other DLC fighters were featured on the art piece with more than just the fighter itself: Joker got to have Morgana accompany him while Hero appears with a Slime. But when it comes to Byleth, it's just the male version, all by his lonesome.

You could argue it's because he's like a bird or pterasaur, which have pneumatized (partly hollow) bones, strong-as muscles, and nothing much else inside them, therefore being kinda light (and very much aerodynamic) for their size. I mean, you've seen how scrawny he is. You can see his ribcage! Samus meanwhile is wearing a presumably heavy-as-hell suit that she can only move in because it's power armour. Plus, she's heavier than him by 1 point. ONE POINT. They're practically the same weight.

Or that Terry is heavier than Ridley.

The same is true for all other characters with male and female variants, except for Corrin, because their male and female names are the same in every language. However, at least in Japanese, Byleth has two names: one male, one female. So why doesn't the announcer have two voice lines for them? That's kinda weird.

i think the super armor is a nod to intercepting. in both cases, you counter an attack with your own, but the exact nature is different (landing the hit first in punch out, tanking the hit in smash)

I play in French and I'm positive that Byleth M and Byleth F share the same name in Smash, the same goes for Corrin and Robin. Even in Japanese, despite that Byleth M and Byleth F should have different names, the announcer still calls them "Byleth".

@@mcswashbuckler3833 Nope, Richter's holy water is specifically Aura, as can be proven with aura enhancing spirits. Turns out they aren't as Lucario specific as everyone first thought.

At the end of Viridi’s list, she says, “And I haven’t even gotten started on all of the minor variations!”. So it’s probably considered as one of those minor variations. Although, it could be considered an inconsistency since there are multiple variations of Petey Piranha mentioned.

I agree and in game pk flash is supposed to induce a random status effect while in smash it’s used as an early kill.

Also it’s a bit odd that Lucas and Ness aren’t using their signature move PK Rockin and PK Love in their final smash. They use PK Starstorm which none of them had learned.

Actually it doesn't in the English version only in Japanese or others but in the English version she doesn't have a second part of the voice clip unlike in Japanese.

@@KingRaichu I last checked voice clips in Smash 4 and Jigglypuff had two voice clips, so I thought the same would apply here. That's odd.

@@APerson-bj3im well, it's not. It just has very high base knockback. It can NOT kill someone. A true instant kill would be a whack or Thwack like effect. The reason Roy has is is because Fire Emblem movesets are made up, dont think about it

Good to know! However there are quite a few songs that state two origins, where the original song came from and where the enhanced on came from. So while this is still inconsistent it’s nice to know a reason behind the choice!

IMO, the reason the joke fell flat is that the "all FE characters are the same" thing is a rather sore point among the FE fanbase. considering the diverse weapon selection and fighting styles, everyone using a sword is a gross misrepresentation of the franchise. hector for smash, anyone?
