Review of my Super Splitter J model. Some things I’ve learned about it & added to it. Mine is the Lariat/King Ranch version, watch to see why! Thanks! #woodhound #firewood #splittingfirewood #logsplitter #supersplit #woodsplitter

I bought an older used one a couple years ago. It is an amazing and simple machine. They are fast! I pour a little used motor oil where it slides every 10-15 minutes to keep it working smooth. Keep a 5’ long pry bar handy is the best way to get a jammed piece out.

They definitely are. Its nice being able to work in something fairly simple if you have any issues with it. Your right about the pry bar. I keep one handy!! Many thanks for watching!!

I bought mine the day after the Patriots beat the Seahawks in the Superbowl on a last second interception. 😅 Anyway, it's great and is my main splitter, but I regularly get logs I can't lift and so I bought a 22 ton vertical hydraulic splitter.
@TwinCityFirewood4 ай бұрын
It is a great splitter and your smart to have a hydraulic splitter around if your working with larger rounds. Appreciate you watching!!

I love mine! I got the HD model and it powers through just about anything I've thrown at it. I have gotten a handful of bigger pieces stuck on the wedge and what a pain to free up but the speed of it makes up for it. I never knew anything about a bushing in the rear so I'll have to look into that. I get all kinds of logs, tree service, straighter poles and truth be told I ordered a Eastonmade Ultra and that will be used for the majority of my fire wood and using the Super Split mainly for our bundle wood pieces. I love the removable hitch idea, I've tripped over that hitch I don't know has many times lol. I'm like you, I have very limited time and the other day me and my Daughter split and stacked about 1/3 of a cord into a IBC tote in about 20 minutes so it move right along. I'll second the fact that you can't go wrong with this splitter unless your getting a lot of twisted, knotty wood.

They’re very productive no doubt. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch & comment!! I bet you’ll like that ultra!!

We do the one but we think they are pretty sweet. Larry and Robin run an electric one. Super quiet and quick.

Great review on the splitter! First time really getting to see one of these models in action for me, so I appreciate the great footage and feedback on this model! Although I don’t do any firewood currently, I have in the past and I’ve been gearing up to get back into it in the future. This splitter would be a great contender for me when I begin shopping for one! Thanks a bunch for all your thoughts on this and I think I’d do the same and upgrade it to the “Lariat” model as you mentioned 💯👍. Take care! Andrew from NB, Canada :)

Love the videos!!! Joe also told me that I'd have no regrets buying one. He.lives in the same.county as me...good guy, just direct competition with me. We keep it friendly tho! I've been doing this longer than him. Lol

Excellent overview of the Supersplit! I have one with the Subaru EX17/ SP 170 engine and I love it. Your mods to the machine are great! My neighbor is a metal fab guy and he welded another wedge (a finishing wedge) on top of the factory wedge that is set back an inch or so to help out in the splitting of taller rounds of wood and it's pretty amazing. Question: If I wanted to swap out my Subaru engine for a Honda engine (the Subaru has a LOT of hours on it) , which Honda GX model is yours? Keep up the great work. Just subscribed to your channel.

Many thanks!!!! That additional wedge sounds interesting 🤔. I’d like to see something like that. Mine is the J model with the Honda GX160 I believe, (if I’m wrong on that I’ll let ya know). I’m pleased with the little Honda motor, it’s pretty quiet and seriously sips gas. I’ve split over 2 cords with it before filling it back up. Hope this helps!! Thanks again for subscribing and your comment!!

Again, I’d love to have one of these. I was on the verge of spending the money for one when a friend gave me his old homemade hydraulic splitter. I’d still like to have one someday.

They’re definitely worth the money IMO.

You should be able to grease the yoke roller (internally) that rides on top of the I-beam by greasing into the hole at the head of the bolt it rides on with a needle type attachment for a grease gun. Also, try LPS #1 for a greaseless lubricant on the top of the I-beam so wood dust will not stick compared to WD40.

Hi there, new sub here "scott". I've had my supersplit for going on two decades now and when you go to thier site, i am one of the complements they use on thier site reviews. Check out my latest two vids on the **ONE AND ONLY** issue i have had with this wood splitter. Dont be blindsided by this small but big problem 10 years from now. this machine is so reliabe that when something goes south its acually surprising. good job picking supersplit...... worth every penny!

Ive been looking at different y tube videos on the super splitter and the only thing I see that it looks on the short side . Im 6'1 and it looks like your going to end up with a sore back
@TwinCityFirewood11 ай бұрын
It has table height adjustments on the end of the table. I don’t have a sore back when splitting but my neck hurts sometimes from looking down so much. That may be unavoidable with any splitter though. I’m 5’9” if that helps. Thanks for watching & commenting!
@CraigAmnott11 ай бұрын
I’m 6’2” and run a Super Split as my only splitter. Not too low. I use a Picaroon to lift rounds to help minimize back issues.
@TwinCityFirewood11 ай бұрын
Picaroons sure are handy!!
@CliffsideStables6 ай бұрын
I had the same concerns, but I can promise you from using my HD SuperSplit that it is definitely not too low. Some hydraulic splitters are much lower than SuperSplit. Tim in northern TN

I've never heard of a picaroon until watching this video and reading these comments. Now I'm researching what one to buy. 😅
