The point of the fucking film is to explore Clark before he accepts being Superman and go from there. Just be grateful we have a fun superman after the trash of the new 52 animated universe

Zemo X2 the. You want “before he became Superman” ? You don’t introduce Lois. Simple. She’s the city girl he’s the Kansas farm boy. My gripe with this version of the story is that Superman clearly struggles with whether he wants to be Superman so much to the point where Lois has to TELL him “if this is what you want, if this is who you are then you have to do it!” Superman didn’t need that speech once he GOT to metropolis... he WENT to metropolis to BE Superman. He didn’t go to metropolis to struggle to BE Superman, only to be told by Lois that this is his destiny. I’d rather no new story if they aren’t going to respect the character enough to at least get his moral compass right.

@@stevenyanis9051 Look the film is still going to be a positive and optimistic Superman film. You sound just as nit-picky as Professor Geek. I watch this film over trash like Man of Steel any day of the week. He already has a moral compass, but his fear is pretty understandable. This is the early days of superman and once those are out of the way, we will see the more mature Superman.

Zemo X2 i understand what you’re saying (don’t know who professor Geek is) but I think you’re missing the point of Superman and why most people think he’s un-relatable in today’s social climate. Clark comes to Metropolis already fully confident in his abilities and convictions. And that is because the original (and all “good”) versions of Superman understand that his convictions and moral compass (as well as his desire to put himself in harms way without fear) is already instilled in him by his parents. His Jewish creators, who grew up in the Jewish community like I did, (and those who had an early hand in his mythos) understood that early age community plays a big part in who you will become. Clark is literally a confident Superman because he came from the Kents, a good natured and selfless family. Clark doesn’t become Superman because he has to. He becomes Superman because he was “raised right”. And this version of the story shows us that THIS Superman has fear of dawning the cape. And what’s worse is that the person who he’s supposed to have the biggest impact on in his mythos instead has the bigger impact on him. It’s backwards. It’s not nit picky. It’s a basic understanding of what makes Superman tick. And if you’re okay with the idea that Superman only gets the bravery to become selfless from a woman he just met, then you don’t understand the basics of the Superman mythos. A) Clark is an alien baby adopted and raised by the Kent’s who instill his moral compass and courage/support B) Clark makes a mission statement to become a hero to people and chooses metropolis as his central base of operations C) Clark meets Lois already AS Superman in metropolis and saves her (and others) to reveal himself to the world. Any adjustments to the core elements of this mythos and you have a completely different character. Superman isn’t just a powerful alien. Martian manHunter is as well. Superman isn’t just a farm boy who moves to the big city. This movie feels more like a “Batman Year One” story than a Superman origin story. If you want to see “where Superman gets his courage” then you have to go back to Kansas. If you give Lois the lines that help to create Superman then you’ve undone the importance of the Kent’s and the true importance of the man of steel known as the “Boy Scout” of DC. That importance is that “Familial upbringing” is where Superman comes from. Not from friends or lovers. And again, if you’re okay with with this “twist” on his story then you don’t want a Superman story, you just want a powerful superhero with a love interest who steeps his moral fiber and courage. For that, just watch some other comic book character. I apologize if this comes off as overly passionate and argumentative but I’ve grown very tired of people misrepresenting what Superman stood for all so they could make a buck off this newer generation and trying to make Clark “relatable”. Superman is not a liberal concept, and by changing him to become a more liberal concept you kill the essence of what made him great to begin with.

@@stevenyanis9051 I may not know everything but I know Superman well enough. It is a new interpretation not a definitive take on the character. As long as this version has some optimism I am fine.
