Can you guess if these fighting game combos are going to kill?
"Will it Kill?" is a show about funny fighting game clips, throwing rocks, betting fake points, birds, labyrinths and following your heart. We'll show a fighting game clip and pause it on one of the hits of a combo. You have to vote on whether the combo will kill or not. There are no drops, Time-outs don't count, and we try to get as close to optimal as possible.
Infilament assembled the show this month and I haven't seen a single clip yet.

In Hisoutensoku, the weather is an important element of the game. The present weather, Typhoon, grants everyone super armor and they lose the ability to block. Sakuya used a spell to slow time and it also granted some i frames. Sakuya's 4A allows her to repeatedly slap. While time was slowed, this provided enough delay to stave off Alice's attack. As soon as the spell ended, Alice's dashing melee 66a that she started prior to the slow was allowed to finish. This was a risky gamble by Sakuya playing her own "Will it kill".

The funny thing is the girl who Sajam really wanted to live because she has a bird isn't even the one with the bird. It's her partner, who was just chilling until she's switched into. The bird just happens to stay on-screen regardless of which character you're currently using.

As soon as I watched that "Nitroplus Blasterz" moment happen, I knew I had to submit it to the show. Not just for the fact that it's a tournament winning combo...but also for the fact that the commentator was going absolutely nuts during it. It's the kind of energy that puts a big ol' smile on your face. But yeah, it's nice to see that even after about 8 years since release, this niche little fighter is still seeing play. Granted, no where near as much as the greats of the genre but still enough for plenty of fun to be had.

Sajam being amazed and bewildered by Hisoutensoku's Typhoon weather is exactly the correct reaction. There were two weird things going on. Typhoon weather makes hitstun 0, and Sakuya's super stopped time. The Alice player's kick startup frames were frozen, and the kick came out when the time resumed. If the Sakuya player did a real combo instead of the jab disrespect they would have probably won.

correction: sakuya actually HAD to do the jab combo. that super doesn't stop time, it only slows it. her jab is her only attack faster than 10 frames, which means it lands within the opponent's doubled hitstop, locking them down as long as time stays slowed. if she used any other attack, alice would recover from hitstop and her kick would come out. sakuya had no options to escape*, but the 4AAA... was the only way for her to deal damage before dying.

YO TOUHOU HISOUTENSOKU MENTIONED Under appreciated game, Typhoon is one of the weathers in the game that basically gives all characters super armor. In addition you have a card deck you can build to change your specials/gain additional effects mid match. Worth trying if you haven’t

5:08 That combo would have done 4 or 5 more damage (enough to kill in this case) had Reynald started with Cl.D instead of C. Given the circumstances (big stage tournament set, tight punish situation) It's perfectly reasonable that he wanted the faster button, but damn if it doesn't make for a great WIK moment

Another banger episode. Crazy that we're getting three special Will It Kill?'s in a row, not counting the Dreamhack show. Also, both of those Touhou characters from the eagle clip had some association with birds, though while one was borrowing the eagle from her tag partner, the other more-or-less has the soul of a phoenix. I noticed the edit to the Inspector sprite in the thumbnail and I respect it. No need to have that tarnish things for any audience members.

to give a delayed answer to sajam's question of 'why did investigator izuma's bar refill?' - ultra fight de kyanta has a pulse system, where if you input your ex or super moves on the right timing, you get both a damage bonus and a chunk of meter, which is what lets a lot of the games insane loops happen without technically being infinites

Ah touhou hisoutensoku. The timer is a weather system that cycles in and out of various effects, and one of the characters has time slow as a super. Typhoon removes the ability to block, and gives both players armour One player used time slow, and just tried to murder the other one during the startup of their jab; it did not work.

For the Blazblue clip, if an enemy dies to a super it'll always be the last hit regardless of how much health they have, so the Izanami was actually dead by over 300 or so damage. Also, if you want people to actually be able to guess the BB clips you really should tell people if the person gets Active Flow or not. It's a massive deal for Overdrive combos since the super at the end does over double damage in addition to having attacks do 10% or so more damage while it's active. There's been multiple clips for the game where the combo started without Active Flow, but mid-combo they get it and get a kill that otherwise would not be possible without it.

10-10 i love the slight at brian f "was it trimmed? i couldnt tell" The first touhou game the weather (in the top middle) gives super armor but you cant block so they used a super that slowed the opponent down and hit jabs(4a). The other character just started a dash attack so it just came out after the hit stop and slow down
