This is the old infamous Superstar Limo attraction from Disney's California Adventure.

My roommate & I rode this nightmare (he was in a wheelchair) the damn ride broke down and we were escorted out-him rolling through the rest of the attraction and we got to see the rest of the ride with the lights on and the Cast member would point out the little details that went into this ride. It was kind of cool, yet very disturbing at the same time. Cher looked like a tired old street walker, Melissa Joan Hart did the voice for the head in the crystal ball. Monsters INC is a improvement.

This was probably the only truely terrible ride at Disneyland resort. Disney usually gets it right with its rides. This ride might have been ok at Universal Studios in 1995, but not DCA in 2001.

ughhh. I was going to think of a witty insulting comment to post here but its just too easy. Its like they wanted the great movie ride, but couldnt get the rights/room for the thing, so they took a bunch of celebrities dropped them into a cheesy pun world over blow over saturate and over do every tired joke about hollywood since the 1930s, and people will love it!
@bbolin56264 жыл бұрын
Stephanie Abbernathy It was supposed to be a paparazzi chase but after Diana died the idea was abandoned as they didn’t want people to think that their promoting the tragedy. So they thought about cloning the Great Movie Ride or two other options but the budget would not allow for any of the three. So they decided to go through with a limo ride but with little paparazzi references and tons of Hollywood gags.

I still remember the first time we rode this. As I recall they took your photo at some point during the ride. The looks on our car's faces was a combination of disgust, horror, and sarcastic smirks. This ride is the epitome of how rotten DCA was when it opened. It's certainly turning a new leaf w/ the remodel though.

This was a reverse situation of what Hard Rock/Freestyle Music Park did. The Hard Rock park in Myrtle Beach, SC, opened with a dark ride based on the song "Nights in White Satin" by the Moody Blues. I didn't ride it, but I watched a POV of it on YT, and the special effects were AMAZING for a budget under $2 million. Then, HRP went bankrupt and a new company bought the park and renamed it and all the rides. The new owners replaced the awesome effects with cardboard cutouts to make it more family

this is a nice vid. I don't want @ParkHopper to think I'm criticizing the video, because I definitely am not. However, this ride is just lackluster. I'm a little surprised it's Disney because they normally are so much better than this. I'm glad this ride isn't around anymore.
@Dragonrider12279 жыл бұрын
okay, this wasn't a bad concept but in between the voice over in the queue sounding like she's trying to hit on you, the awkward Joan rivers CGI, and the ride itself feeling like riding through a cross between Cool World and Phil Collin's Land of Confusion music video, the whole thing feels terribly... uncomfortable. The Madam Leota reference in 7:22 is funny though it would make me wish I was riding that instead XD Over all, this feels like it should be in Universal Studios. Not a Disney park. Does anyone know what replaced this?

Superstar Limo might have worked if the ride covered the Golden Age of Hollywood and included classic stars like Gable, Bogart, Astair, Cary Grant, Hepburn, etc..Those stars would have stood the test of time and never become dated......But obviously the budget was so cheap Disney couldn't afford to pay those actors estates so they settled for C listers that had Disney contracts at the time.

My dad told me that this ride sucked. This was before Monsters Inc. Mike And Sulley To The Rescue was going to replace Superstar Limo. My parents and I NEVER been on it, because it closed later on in October 2017 which was 4️⃣ years ago. 👍🏻 if you like Monsters Inc. Mike And Sulley To The Rescue BETTER than Superstar Limo.
@MountainSprite211 жыл бұрын
I have to agree with CommunityBuildersSB. I rode the Monsters, Inc. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue ride this week. I think it's cute for little people (3-8) but kind of boring for adults unless you are a Monsters, Inc. fan, of course. I don't know why they have the ride hidden from the street. If I hadn't looked on the park map I never would have know it was there. I still think Disney could come up with something better for that ride.

Everything in California Adventure rides that was base in California was all gone The SuperStar Limo a trip celebrity to Hollywood. Maliboomer which based from a City name Malibu. The CALIFORNIA huge sign in Entrance area of the park is gone also. The huge Orange attraction near place of California Screamin were gone also and it was base from Orange County. The California Screamin is only left. Now Disney California Adventure is not a California theme park anymore but i still love the DCA and Disneyland.
@nitsujjustin9 жыл бұрын
thats because they got rid of the shitty themeing. Buena Vista Street is based on Los Angeles in the 1920s and 1930s, Tower of Terror is based on Hollywood hotels and there's a real hotel called the Hollywood Tower Hotel in Hollywood, Cars Land is modeled after Route 66, Condor Flatts is a desert airfield based on 29 palms and Miramar in CA, Paradise pier is based on the piers in CA. so ya its very much california themed

Tj Samson They also got rid of Sunshine Plaza, the sunshine state, Muholland Madness, Muholland drive in LA, and are now changing Soarin' Over California to Soaring Over the Horizon.
@kellygarrett42629 жыл бұрын
They're just trying to bring in more Disney culture, since it is a Disney park. But now, it's styled more in a retro/vintage version of California (from when Walt first arrived in the California). There's some bonuses and some negatives.

@Blu923the2nd12 жыл бұрын
I disagee. DCA was originally themed to the pop culture and offered a "hip" look onto California. The new themes are romantic and idealistic. DCA now has a "vintage" feel to it. So either way, this ride wouldn't have lasted. Unless they redid the attraction entirely to make it look less like the Tracey Ullman Show and more realistic and calm, maybe it could have stood for awhile. But remember although some rides that aren't properly themed still last, this was only Phase I of the DCA expansion.

I have to say I think I'm very happy that somehow I missed this ride. lol
@BenjaminEnglesmith17 жыл бұрын
My understand of this ride is that it was originally supposed to be faster, and story was that you were speeding through Hollywood being chases by the paparazzi. Unfortunately when they were nearing the end of the developement stages for the attraction Princess Diana was killed in such a chase, so the story had to be quickly changed.

I don't think that at all, if I made it sound that way then I apologize. I personally love the way DCA just the way it is. But at the same time, I'm always open to any new ideas from Disney, the only problem I have with the changes are that the park will no longer fit the name of DCA.

The ride was a great tongue-in-cheek look at life in LA and the celebrities that inhabit the region. It was a fun ride. DCA wasn't any different than Epcot, Disney/MGM Studios or Animal Kingdom with park flaws in the early years (and for some the flaws still continue in Florida). The upcoming project will help to correct some of those flaws, but the park is already doing 1,000 times better than in 2001
