Exactly. It’s like asking a fish to teach you how to swim. It’s sad that people have the perception that the best athletes could provide the best information because most of the times they are just made for that specific movement pattern and have the appropriate structure.

The best coaches are often mediocre athletes who had to make up for a lack of talent with a surplus of hard work and determination.

I am always learning and I love watching guys like John go through the position and tell us any pointers of form. The Pendaly row - I do these, but I do them wrong and I know this as I just watched John do them correctly! Thank you for the video!

Your bench explanation perfectly lines up with my experience for overhead press, if I get stuck mid-rep or close to lockout I wind up leaning back a bit further and then it just moves til lockout. I'm glad to see Haack's style of deadlifting because that's how I've been deadlifting personally because it felt best to me but I've heard other people recommend that lean back catapult style and I've never tried that out so at least I know I'm doing something right.

For a while I was using John’s cue of forcing your hips in rather than pulling the weight up but I kind of lost that ideology the heavier I went. It’s good to hear from one of the greats this reminder of what the deadlift truly is, and I’m definitely going to shift my mental efforts into forcing my hips in more than leg pressing off the ground.
@aaronbarlow4376
@aaronbarlow4376 11 ай бұрын
Aren't you meant to leg press the floor away though? It leads to your hips coming through as leg pressing engages the glutes and it's then natural to squeeze the glutes and force the hips forward
@SupERsNipAa327
@SupERsNipAa327 11 ай бұрын
@@aaronbarlow4376 I honestly just think of it as leg pressing, and squeezing my glutes hard to lockout. So pretty much, yeah.

I competed for almost 30 yrs. Then injuries started to slowly occur. I then retired from my job as a Firefighter-Paramedic and stopped lifting all together. Now I just started back after 15 yrs of inactivity and while I now start to feel the power rush I cannot keep my Left hand palms up when I'm lifting, both over is ok. Forgot to mention my Left Biceps tendon tore 15 yrs ago and the doc said it would be an inch shorter but is it normal for a bicep tear to mess up hand placement?
