Support Court with Judge Vonda B.

Madea filed for an increase in child support against Lyle around the same time she found out Lyle was newly engaged. Lyle says Madea is worrying about his money only because she's mad that he has a new relationship.

In reality both parties would (most likely) have lawyers and the child support wouldn’t just be for schooling and extra curricular activities. There’s also food, clothing, and household needs for the kid. Also, someone working a $9.whatever job wouldn’t be able to afford that stuff mostly on their own to begin with
@Dominique...
@Dominique... 2 жыл бұрын
That man barely pays for his children. The 3 year old has to go to private school since he is in pre-k and the state of Texas doesn't have public preschool programs, unless your child is special needs. You don't know her situation, she works and probably can't drop the children off at separate schools in the morning. That woman needs a lawyer because half of tuition is not enough.
@jubei187
@jubei187 2 жыл бұрын
@Inspired with Dominique I will agree with you; they both need lawyers. That being said, you're right; we don't know their stories, but if he has an alternative to the child care the mother selected, he should have had an attorney present who is more familiar with the process and how it works instead of waiting until he is brought in child support. And while Texas doesn't currently have universal 3-k, it still has daycare centers and child care providers. Even if the man is paying the bare minimum (this guy is probably below that), the father should have a say in that regard, but support hearings aren't the best place to bring it up.

@@LtJohnnyRidden1 Both parents share the costs of raising a child in child support cases. It's not a bias for either parent to pay to help raise the kid. If the kid is in majority custody of one parent, the other parent usually pays more. That has nothing to do with gender. What DOES seem to be affected by gender is how often men petition for custody of their kids. Disproportionately more than women, men opt out of custodial arrangements for the kids. So more often than not, men are the ones on the hook for child support, because Mom is keeping the kids all/most of the time.

It doesn't matter, remember the kids are 3 and 6 years old. School ends at around 3pm or so.Most parents get off at 5pm, so extra curricular activities could be as simple as an after school program or a baby sitter. So that's an extra cost.

Yep. It also seems like they wanted more because he was getting married. The step-mom has ZERO obligation to pay child support her her stepchildren. Greedy mamas. Reminds me of my husband's ex-wife. She agreed to an amount and then changed her mind once she stood in front of the judge. She didn't realize I was in the room she was standing next to when she and her lawyer were talking in the hallway. She told her lawyer she wanted more money because she forgot that I get money from VA and she knew we could afford to pay more than what she agreed to my husband paying. Her lawyer said she couldn't do that, but she didn't care. She wanted more. Her lawyer advised her to take what she agreed to or the judge wouldn't be to pleased with her wanting more after stating she agreed. Some women are just money hungry because they're scorned and want the father to pay them for their pain.

@@jesseniaax child support is based on a calculation from dad's income. She's lucky she gets any type of child support seeing as they have 50/50 physical. You legally can't take more than a certain percentage from Dad's income for child support. He has to live too. Kids don't have to go to private school. I've seen many kids mistreated in school. five days a week every 1st, 3rd, and 5th weekend he has them. That means she has their kids 90% of the time. Which is Standard visitation. That also means she has primary custodianship and he is non-primary. In most cases that indicates the primary is the only person legally to make those kinds of decisions. Such as choice of school, activities and medical needs, etc with the exception of real emergencies. non primary custodianship doesn't get to choose as long as it is in the best interest in the child/children and if found to be within reasonable means.

Child Support doesn't normally cover private school tuition reimbursement. She says many times that it's based off of a simple calculation using how much money the non-custodial parent makes. The only changes that should have mattered are whether he's making more or less money or if he's spending less time with his kids. It doesn't sound like either of those happened. Forcing the guy to pay additional support to cover private school expenses is ridiculous.

Personally, I'd hire a lawyer to contest this ruling in court and wouldn't agree to it in a private arbitration agreement. Especially since private schooling is not a necessity. At his rate he was already paying $800 in child support, at that rate adding an additional $500/month is raising the burden from the standard 20% closer to 33%. With the cost of rent going up that would be an undue burden on most people. People are free to agree to whatever they want in arbitration but they should definitely consult a professional when it comes to agreements like this that can last almost 20 years.

Private school and gymnastics are not necessities they are luxuries he is 100% right both are required to provide the children with necessities but luxuries must be discussed and mutually agreed on. If they don’t agree on the luxuries and one of the parents chooses to do said luxuries in opposition of the other parent then said parent who chooses the luxury should pay said luxury 100% on their own.

I do not agree with the principles of this reenactment: As a woman, I think this is completely BS. Expensive private school and activities is not a right. It is a privilege and should not be an additional cost to income based child support unless both parents agree on it. If you want your 6 year old to be in cheer and gymnastics (fueling your fantasy that they become the popular cheerleader) then the cost is on you and you budget the income based child support you receive. If you want your 3 and 6 year old in "private school" without my agreement then you budget it into the money you earn and the child support you receive. If you don't like the schools in your district, move to one you do like. Don't expect the other parent to fund your likes or dislikes or your fantasies for your children that you can't afford especially if the other parent is not in agreement with them. No!
@katierich5964

Exactly what I think when I hear these parents talk about it! This kids don't need private school, gymnastics, football, and 200$ shoes! Its ridiculous live within your means if you guys cant afford it, even with child support already coming in, then you can't afford it! Simple as that!
@rickarevalo911
@rickarevalo911 Жыл бұрын
And these kids dont always have to attend private school. If I were the judge, I would tell the custodial parents that if they solely decide on private school then that is on you. Basic needs are to be met and anything extra is a concern on your shoulders. Welcome to adulthood.

Mom wasnt the only one paying for it and that was never said. He is paying child support and carrying insurance, like the mom was. But because the mother decides to increase the expenses, the father gets the shaft. The only time this judge ever rules for the father is when the mother has absolutely ZERO ground to stand on. But if the mother has 1" of ground, the father will lose.
