Supro 1605R Reverb Demo

Күн бұрынThe Supro 1605R is an awesome little amp that has a ton of cool features. In this video, we demo a few of the cool ways it can be used in a studio.
We play it through its internal speaker, as well as through an EarFuzz 15 inch cabinet using the the 8ohm output. There are two 4ohm outputs so you can use the internal speaker along with an extension cab. For that clip we used a Benson 10 inch cab.
If you shut the master volume off and use the "Mix Out" on the back of the amp, you can run the Supro into the front of another amp. Basically, you're using the Supro as a preamp for the main amp. We used a Twin Reverb for this and it sounded epic.
We also ran the "Mix Out" straight into a preamp and then Pro Tools. There was no speaker simulation added.
The amp also includes a "Dry Out" and "Wet Out" on the back which offer some really cool possibilities. We didn't touch on those in this video but they are super cool.
All sounds were recorded using an SM57 and there is ZERO post processing done to the audio.
We were not paid in any fashion for this video. All gear was purchased full price.

I've owned this amp for about 1.5 years now and while it's not been my main amp this entire time, it does that supro vintage thing that I love. This is a very nice demo of it!

Beautiful! I just ordered one of these after playing one yesterday, and will hopefully have it this week. I already have the Delta King 10, and absolutely love it. I wanted a second small amp, but wanted to try something a bit different. It sounds fantastic to me at all volume levels, with or without pedals. Great demo!

I’m awaiting this amp in the mail. I love guitar through 8 inch speakers. But wow, that Sun Face is amazing and I don’t really like fuzzes.

Hey guys. Enjoyed the demo and great playing. Just bought this amp and have two questions. Can I use the mix out with a headphone preamp like the Topping L30, then turn the master to 0 and have silent playing with still all the reverb, EQ and overdrive? Have you had any quality issues? After I bought I have seen a bunch of posts of people saying things like the reverb died after two weeks. Hopefully they have fixed any QC issues. Cheers.

Hey Brendan! Appreciate the comment! I’m using this amp in my studio every day and haven’t had any quality issues. However I’m not out gigging with it on a daily basis. The “Mix Out” is a line level signal that can be sent to any line level input. It is still active even if the Master Volume is on Zero. I see no reason why it wouldn’t work with a headphone amp. Just keep in mind there is no speaker simulator on the “Mix Out”. It does include the Reverb/Tone Stack. I have only tested the “Mix Out” with a clean tone. Sounds wonderful. You can hear that in our demo. I’m not sure an overdriven tone would sound good without a speaker or speaker simulator at the end. I’ll check it out when I can! Great demo! Is the last sound using the amp's line out going directly into a DAW?

Yes the last sound uses the "Mix" output from the back of the amp through a pre-amp and into the DAW. Unfortunately off the top of my head I cannot tell you what preamp was used. But I run the "Mix" out straight into my UAD Apollo 6x and it sounds fantastic.

@@thebasinmusic8259 well yes. It doesn’t really has a fx loop labelled as such, but since there is a power amp input and outputs after the preamp, I’m guessing it could be used like that. But it’s not entirely clear to me which outputs could be used, since some seem to cut the output to the onboard speaker… I’m trying to figure out if I can use this with 4 cable method and a modeller to switch between the supro’s preamp and preamp simulation of the modeller.

@@DeGroove So I just tested all three outputs: "Dry", "Reverb" & "Mix" into my Walrus Audio D1 Delay and then back into the Power Amp Input. It sounded quite weak and unusable. I don't know if this had to do with the D1 in some way, but as it is, I can't recommend your use case. Each output sounds fantastic in its own right going into Luna. But I would put any effects or modeler in front of the amp.

@@thebasinmusic8259 thanks a lot for trying this out! It’s a pity it doesn’t seem to work this way, as it defeats my purpose of being able to switch between preamps. Nonetheless, the amp sounds great on its own. I hoped the dry out or mix out would have worked. Thanks again, if you ever find out something that does work, feel free to let me know. Take care.
