I know I'm late to the party but, to answer your question, I would say the following: As someone who's looking to buy his first tube amp, an amp that takes pedals really well would be my go to for a first amp. Then, I would go for amps that have particular sounds that I'm going after and almost regard those as other pedals.

One Advice : make sure the amp is on a table or stand like in the video. It doesn't sound good on the floor, unless it's angled up. Anyway, that's just my experience.

I prefer the amp to maintain its natural character and drive and not depend on pedals . With that being said , I really like Supro amps and I hope they bring back their vintage style amps with the more traditional drive and character ,like the thunder bolt , coronado and dual tone. They can just simply call it the vintage series, there are still plenty of us guitar players out here that actually don`t use pedals and rely on our amps for tone. I use my volume and tone knobs on my guitar for gain or clean tones. I own a Supro 1600 Supreme , an outstanding amp , just crank it up and you`ll have all the drive you need for rock music, especially classic rock.

I seriously cannot decide between this amp, the 10 or 12" version, a DRRI, a PRRI, or an Orange tremlord..Mainly going to just be using it for a clean amp in either a stereo rig or most likely wet-dry. Right now my other amp is an OR15, and I love it dearly but the fx loop doesn't work. It's way too noisy and hates my digital pedals.. (maybe something is wrong with it, not sure.) I do like that this has a master and gain, so I can still get some drive out of it if I want, but the other 3 have beautiful trem and reverb.. Cannot decide.

Did you decide? I’m in the same situation too and cannot decide between the same amps you nominated
@DelScully
@DelScully 2 жыл бұрын
@@Zerland95 I'm still having difficulties deciding 2 months later but I think I've narrowed my choices down and have now added the option of a Orange Rocker 32 which is a stereo tube amp! Just trying to find out if it'll work the way I want it to! If I can unplug both speakers and use two extension cabs then the original speaker to run my or15, I could have a super sleep wet/dry/wet rig! Honestly none of the amps I've mentioned would be a bad choice, just depends what you're looking for! I love the idea of the tremlord and the supro, as they're both unique but I know no matter what, I'm always going to want a fender deluxe reverb one day!

Great move IMHO changing out the 10” for the 12”...so many more options, and personally not a big fan of the 1 x 10” speaker? I’m trying to play with touch dynamics, so I like the natural breakup. Rolling off a FF style Fuzz also correlates the nature breakup, with the onset of the Fuzz. That said, it’s a hard balancing act, dialing in the right sound, at the right volume, in multiple situations? The ultimate type of this kind of amp, would have power scaling, and maybe have 30-40 watts of head room maxed out? I’m torn between a “Tweed” or Brown/Black face Tone. Overdrives never sound as good to me as cranking my 5e3? However, my 5e3 is hard to get the chimey, edge of breakup sound at volume? Ideally having a dynamic amp, that allowed a natural break to be dialed in/accentuated (...with EQ?), punchy clarity/headroom, great effects loop, light weight, in a 1 x12” combo.

Two Rock Studio Signature, or Bloomfield Drive, Morgan RCA35 or MVP23, Dr.Z Maz 35 or 18Jr., Carr Mercury V, Telstar or Skylark, Milkman Creamer 20 with ceramic speaker, Vintage Sound 20, 22, 35, Fender Custom Shop Deluxe Reverb... Many with no effects loop, some with...all EXPENSIVE! I guess you get what you pay for? Have to stick with my 5e3 till I truly need more, or I hit Lotto! Feel fortunate to have the gear that I do.

@@druwk I have played for almost 3 decades never spent over a grand on an amp. I prefer to waste money on overpriced guitars. Lol 😂. No PRS though, well not anymore 1 McCarty. I can get a custom made boutique guitar ordered for the same price as their regular signature models. SE- Chinese made guitar come on what’s next for sale at Walmart? It’s all just kinda boring too- all sounds the same. Can’t even pick your pickups! They aren’t comfortable either I have never thought they were. Doesn’t mold to me sitting down. I swear I think it’s all about bc they look nice. Btw- I got this as my cheaper alternative to a milkman.

@@bojangles6444 I bought a used DrZ Z28, that I really, really dig. The more I play it, the deeper I like it. It’s a quality amp. Does everything I need it to do. Ironically, I bought it with a 10” speaker cabinet that came with the head! Though I play it through my 5e3 cabinet with a 12” most of the time. Between the 5e3, and that amp, I’m pretty set? I have a Strat Partscaster that I play 99% of the time. Would like to get a nice semi-Hollowbody, but they are definitely NOT cheap.
@bojangles6444
@bojangles6444 2 жыл бұрын
@@druwk yeah what type of semi hollowbody? That’s what I need next. That and some form of telecaster wether a Fender or a boutique model. I like Anderson guitars I find they are the most comfortable to sit with. Had one for 20 years just ordered a single cut. I got a mesa boogie nomad 45 last week for 600 2x12’s and I paid 600 for this beauty (the one in the video someone on eBay lost their job needed to sell ASAP ). All my other amps are from the 90’s of 2000’s. Fender hot rod it bothers me too loud on 2 lol. Haven’t played a gig since I was a teenager almost 40- just got back into guitar after a decade honestly. Hard to stay motivated bc of work.
