Big thanks to Oli's Skate Shop for getting these sent so quickly and answering my questions as usual. Links for them are further down this description.
If you saw my recent unboxing video you will have already seen my new Sure-Grip Avanti Plates. Here I am putting them together and fitting them to my Bauer NS roller skates. I was lucky that they fit the original holes drilled for the Playmaker ADC plates that were on my skates before however I did need to use different hardware.
All quad skating footage filmed in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, UK.

Thanks for your vids, it's good to see that people are still into quads. I've just bought some cheap used Raptors with softish wheels and hoping to get a bit of exercise in with them after not skating for quite a while. My original skates were Bauers with Sure-Grip Classic plates - but after 35 years (!) the plastic boots now literally disintegrate when I pick them up and the thread on the one of the plates is gone so I can't put the truck back on, so I guess I'll be sticking with the nasty plastic ones that came on the Raptors. Keep up with the skating and the vids! BTW stopping only needs a 'hockey stop', front stoppers are for running and rear stoppers don't exist 😀

Thanks for a cool video. Looking to get the same plate for my Bauers. Just wondering what size boot and plate you used?

My boots are a size 9 and the trucks are size 6. Bolt holes will vary depending on boot size and original truck size. I asked Oli's Skate Shop (where I bought the boots and later the trucks) for their advice and followed their recommendation. Couldn't have been a better fit. I'd ask the retailer if possible!

I changed from old school bauer turbo to ccms used the playmakers but may change them up for the suregrip boxer plates but like you said dont think theyll be mucb difference

They do look a bit nicer than the bulky playmakers but other than being stronger and so lasting longer it doesn't seem like they make much of a difference to skating. Getting them for the looks not a bad excuse though

Do you happen to know what bushings come with the Playmaker as standard?

They should send you a new truck! US axles are shorter, but not that short. I skate Playmakers too, as well as other plates (I even have Roll-Lines, which are supposed to be the best), and I think you only really notice a difference indoors and with precision/artistic stuff (that's why I've always kept my Playmakers. I've never found fault with them outdoors). That said, I prefer harder cushions/bushings (for my weight) and you probably notice a plate's quality more if you're a soft action skater.

I haven't been in touch yet and have already skates them. Hoping they might send me just a new axel as I'd rather not take these off and put them back on again. Not such a problem since they're working but is a shame from £100 trucks. Have you heard about sure grip quality control issues recently? Ive seen a lot of people complaining about badly cut boardwalk boots recently.

@@MisterSkids69 no, I haven't (more Riedell quality control issues) 😮. Would be a shame if SG started messing up too. Idk, I don't think it matters that you've skated on them already. That axle is too short (so not locknut will ever sit safely on it, especially not with 10 mm spacer wheels) and they should replace that truck. I usually keep my plates when I get new boots and if you do the same, this will bother you for a loooong time.

Oli’s skate shop sells them and will ship worldwide. If you’re in the US though it might be less costly to hop onto eBay and search “quad skate heels” or “quad skate heel blocks” and you should find what you’re after. They come in some different sizes so keep that in mind depending on your boot!

Quick question - what is the approx distance between the bottom of the king pin and the ground when you mount sims street snakes on these plates? Are the king pins short enough to not catch on things when you're street skating?

Sorry for such a late reply. I've long taken the wheels off and will be unlikely to get that measurement. However, hitting the ground was never an issue when I ran these. King pin length does vary though and it's not uncommon for park skaters to grind the bottoms down for more clearance and grinding.

Sorry I'm so late to reply! Skates are funny sizes, you want half a size up from your UK size. I compared to the size of boots I own rather than the size of trainers. You want to go slightly larger than you'd think as feet swell when skating for a bit. I'd suggest you'd want an 8.5/US size 9.5. That will depend on your actual shoe size - I find my trainers can be anywhere from size 8.5 to 10 depending on brand and model.

Hi Russell, paid £94.95 from Oli's Skate Shop. This was the cheapest I could find them from somewhere I had some trust in, in the UK. Think there should be a link in the description.
