I have personally found the best way to sleep in a cold environment. Remove as much clothes before getting in your sleeping bag, thereby letting your body warm your bag. My first night at arctic survival, I went to sleep inside my sleeping bad with my long johns on. Woke up freezing and stood in the snow to remove my long johns. Slept well and warm the remainder of the night. try it and you will like it.

I think this is the first time I’ve seen you look like you are genuinely suffering! I camped in northern MN this year for dear season and I had a RTT on my truck and a propane heater in the tent. I don’t use the heater while sleeping it’s just too dangerous! CO, isn’t really the fear it’s starting a fire that’s the big problem. I know what it’s like to slide on frozen Sorel’s and take a dump at 4:45 AM to get to your deer stand before 6. NO HOT FOOD until lunch. Pray for sun and NO wind. Super grateful for the thermos of coffee made the night before. I am glad to have pushed myself, in no small way because of you, Lars! I know the suffering, and am more resilient because of it. Embrace the suck, and enjoy the small stuff. Thanks for the video. Keep doing what you are doing.

In army we were taught a few ways to warm up your hands in cold weather. First was to simply put your hands between your legs near your crotch because that is one of the warmest places on human body.(this was mostly reserved for use when in training in the forest because it wouldn't be very orderly looking when soldiers stand with their hands down there lol) The second went like this: Put your arms straight down and then bend your wrist away from your body, palms down (so your arms and hands make bit of an L shape on your sides) then with your hands in this position rise and lower your shoulders rapidly and strongly. You can even feel the blood moving in your fingers when you are doing this.

The first time I went winter camping was in 1974 near Amana IA in the USA. It was 60 below windchill. We were told to build our own lshelter Mine blew over in the night with the 40+ mph winds. we got 4" of snow that night.I stayed in the bottom of my sleeping bag until they had a rip roaring fire going. I later learned not to sleep in your clothes. You sweat no matter how cold it is and you clothes soak that up and make you colder. It took a few years, but eventually was able to build a teepee like enclosure with a fire in the middle that would keep the internal temps in the 60's or 70's no matter how cold it was at night. The native americans knew what they were doing in the cold.

@Julie Pitzen I live in Siberia. The windchill was in the -50s a couple of days ago. It usually lasts about a month.

Hello my outdoors friend, greetings from Northern California. Thank you for the tag along. This was quite an adventure. Frozen boots are a real torture. I don't know how you do it. The very best to you. Take care, be safe and stay Healthy. 🤗

Here in outer suburbs of Sydney Australia, it is the opposite climate to you. With heat, total fire ban, venomous red belly and brown snakes and spiders, yes in the suburbs., so watching your Siberian camping is awesomely refreshing and alien to us. Love it Lars. Thank you.

You are one tough Dane. Great respect from the U.S. Friends and I have learned alot from your info that you so graciously share. We have put that info to practice and have been cold camping in the toughest conditions we can find. Thank you for what you do Lars. God Bless, and Merry Christmas.

Greetings from Ukraine! Your food looks amazing! Looks gourmet even for it being camping cooking :) My family usually buries potatoes under the fire before we build it so we have fresh baked potatoes in the morning all cooked overnight and ready. Nicely paired with some soft runny fried eggs, bacon, and pancakes with jam to go with the coffee :D
