very sorry for your loss Jimmy, i lost my Dad to cancer in Aug then my mum died of bowel cancer in November so i know how you feel mate, I've been fighting Bladder cancer since 2017 and've been through a year of chemo and 7 weeks of daily radio and the radio has badly damaged my insides so i really feel for you mate

The outdoors is where I found solace when my mam passed. My mam had a bottle of whiskey in the cupboard she left when we emptied her flat, I took it and never told my wife who reckons I drink too much anyway and would have gotten a right ear bashing. Had many a toast to my mam's memory with that bottle of whiskey and I know she would be proud of me and I know your mam would be proud of you mate. Christopher and I are at my camp this weekend and you are more than welcome to come along if you want mate.

The new spot looks amazing. I love the older growth plantations for slinging up a hammock and a basha in. I'm sure you'll find a sheltered spot a little deeper in, nearer to the edges, the wind can push the weather in quite far, especially after the trees have been brashed. A thing I like to do if I'm gonna be there long, is dig a shallow arrow shaped channel around the back and sides of the bashas to help push any ground water away from where I'm bedding in. Water will take the path of least resistance and even a couple of inches deep trench, will move a lot of that runoff away. I've used that to dry out a few spots I use regularly. A little channel here and there can help dry out a huge area. What's the point of going camping, if you can't have a waffle and a bevvy and talk shite and have a laugh with your mates? You lads look like you're enjoying yourselves and that's what it is all about. Sorry to hear about your Ma. But you're right in she wouldn't want you moping about. A big grin on her face watching you take a slug of that Baileys. The Baileys hot chocolate is great, I've done that before too. Well nice on a cold night. Looking forward to the next one. The big fella gives these hard times to test you. I know you are one of the best, that’s how your mam brought you up. You’ll get through and help your family through as well. I find it difficult to offer any empathy, because I haven't spoken to my Mum for 15 years. We just don't get on and she's let me down, from a support perspective, over the years when I needed it. Also, she hasn't contacted me either. So I just plod-on with life. I'm sorry to say, that I don't even miss her or ANY of my family actually. Right or wrong, I just don't care about family, at all. The camp looks good.
