Always overproduce and place water/oxygen/electric storage as close as possible to the dome. Many colonists died to bring us this information.

I've recently purchased this game for the PS4. (wish it was for the pc but I own an iMac) I've watched several people play and attempt to provide a tutorial for the game but none of them really provided as much information and explanation of the game as you did. I loved watching the drones moving it to the storage depot and the RC moving it back. Wouldn't be a Quill18 let's play without something like this, honestly.

Yeah, he made the mistake of moving from a concrete storage to a universal which can only hold a set amount of each good. The RC was then constantly dumping it on the ground for the drones to move back, when do you think he will notice?

FYI, I havent seen that you under are any real time constraint until you bring the first batch of colonists. Therefore, you could theoretically spend an indefinite amount of time building up your infrastructure, and gaining research/tech via scanning anomalies. Though the research is a shot in the dark, because technology appears on the research tree randomly it seems.

You'd slowly burn through your money buying advanced materials for maintenance without any ability to manufacture them or make more money. With this sponsor it would take a really long time but on less generous ones you can't afford to dawdle. The polymers you start with there are all you're going to get.

Dunno if it was mentioned but the Metal Extractor and the Rare Metal Extractor has to be close to the domes, it wont let you place it if too far away from colonists, i just encountered that issue

You can make a "shortcut" thru the dome with the power cables.

Colonist need food so i had it delivered in advance . they are starving and i have piles of food . how do i give it to them i tried the transport but it cant unload into a dome and the little rc just ignore it

I love the way this is a tutorial but because your talking about individual things and have it at top speed your not keeping on top of everything. E.G your explorer is just sitting there as you should have assigned it a new anomaly lol

Problem with the domes at the moment is that the smaller ones are almost impossible to keep happy. They really ought to allow domes side by side that share stats so I'm not constantly working with miserable jackasses that complain they cant shop, even with a shop in there haha

Why do you need to run cables and pipes around a dome? It would make more sense if the Architects designed the domes to act as hubs where you can connect pipes and cables on one site and continue them on the opposite.

Who everyone who actually believes there's no way to get rid of the waste rock that's produced by buildings and made by changing terrain until a certain tech is researched, there is a structure in the far right build menu looking like a large rock that can be salvaged after built, using 75+ waste rocks forever.

Can power and water be "Daisy Chained" between domes? Example, if I have power and water coming in to the right side of a dome, then I build another dome on its left side, can I run power and water from the first dome to the second in the space between them?

So, for the majority of this video, robots have been unloading cement from the factory to the cement depot, the transporter has taken the cement to the universal storage, the massive overflow has been going into a temporary storage, and the robots are bringing the cement from the temporary depot back to the cement depot up top. Hopefully that gets fixed. Great video, Quill. You can really tell you like this game and enjoy it. I'm looking forward to it since it reminds me of Sierra's Outpost, my first colony manager game.

I am on Sol 170 and my game is becoming a little stagnant. Alrerady had a major accident where every died due to lack of oxygen in one dome. Its there an end to the game? Haven't tried transforming yet. Any tips as to which direction i am heading and when is the end of the game. I don't seem to have a goal! Also i tend to play on fastest speed but actually i play really slow. All my original founders have died

If you selected New Game on the screen, there should be a mystery storyline that emerges around mid-game. Once you finish that, however, it gets into sandbox mode. I’m still pretty new to the game and haven’t tried the other modes yet, though. I know one is pure sandbox.

Does anyone have a guess on how long a play through should be of this game? Paradox games always seem to have a lot of playing time for their cost but this one seems different; not that many building options or variation of play just harder starting starting conditions.

Well first off, this is simply published by Paradox, not developed by them. That being said, so far we've only seen (across multiple youtubers/the devs) what I assume to be the early game. I don't think there is really a win-game condition as it were, but who am I to know (maybe once you've dealt with your playthrough's mystery?). On that note, replayability could come from wanting to see all the various mysteries... Either way, I assume that a playthrough is probably gonna be somewhere along the lines of 20 hours or so? Where does this number come from....thin air, but there it is. However I do know that some of the devs/community manager do stream on the Paradox twitch stream (www.twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive) on Thursdays, so you could possibly ask them that question there?

seeing how big you can build I can bet the playthrough is pretty long... but said that, I don't think the replayability is that great since it feels like its one of those games that when you figure out the right procedure to start a base, you will be able to play perfectly every time in any difficulty, and then the game will become boring.

Looking at the goals, it should be pretty long. One was for 1000 Colonists. With the fact you can customise and min/max your domes with specific colonists and such, it will take a while to get to 1k if you put effort into setting up an efficient system. Then there is the endgame events and some kind of wonder building. Seems like you could get your monies worth out of the game. If it supports mods, maybe there will be even more to do.

Thank u. I love this game but people keep commiting suicide lol. I have 4 domes shops lots of parks dinners the lot. Watch all ur videos to do it better the second time around lol. Thank u. I also have a rare metal pod Jr but my geologists just run ALL the way to the main pod to live. And without transport yet it's becoming problematic lol. Love this game tho, I'm determined to figure it out

I think in one of his early let's plays he was under the impression that Brussels was the capital of France. People gave him such a hard time in the comments afterwards that he now takes pleasure in trolling people by confidently announcing that "fact".

Hard to say if there's a hard failstate or not, but all your colonists dying from various catastrophes (or even just from old age with no babies) would at the least constitute a soft failstate. And if you're also out of money at the time, well that'd be even more of a problem, though again, whether it game overs at that point, who knows.

This is why the Curiosity rover dosn't use solar panels. Every Martian year the Opportunity rover gets it's solar panels covered in dust. That decreases it's power generation. NASA decided to go with a radioactive power source for Curiosity. Solar energy works on mars you shouldn't rely on them in more dusty regions. I don't how much the game simulates dust difficulties but apparently they do somewhat so we need to be careful.

Asher Paul Tan As shown in this video, they mine metal and do research. They also mine rare metals(your only source of monetary incline), and run the factories that produce more advanced components line machine parts. So they are vital to any more advanced building.

I guess that depends on your tastes, it's right up my alley, but I don't know what you're into. I will say, we've only ever seen the early game shown, I suspect things get significantly more complex as the game progresses. If you're on the fence, I'd say wait for reviews from people with similar tastes to you before deciding, though this was a guilt-free pre-order for me.
