Surviving the Texas DEEP FREEZE!

5 ай бұрынWell we thought we were leaving Canada and the cold behind, but it turns out, it followed us! Come along with us as our family of 9 survives in our skoolie through the Texas freeze, and 48 hours with no water! When the water does get turned back on, and the weather warms up, we venture out to PattyCakes Bakery, a local Galveston bakery that sells some amazing gluten free treats. We get spoiled at PattyCakes, and then head to the playground for some much needed outside time!

Hello Sabrina and Michael I really enjoy your channel. I’m so glad you all made it through the cold weather. That was so sweet and kind of him to treat you all to his bakery,I really like the name of his bakery. This is a really cool video!!! I'm so glad that you were invited to the bakery and spoiled like that. I'm a clean freak, so I make sure we have a ton of water stored in case of emergencies or unexpected events. We have solar kettles, camp showers, solar showers, The Scrubba laundry washing bags, clothes lines, battery-operated dryers, etc.

Wow, I’ve never heard of a battery operated dryer or The Scrubba laundry washing bags, I’m gonna have to look those up!! When we lived in a house we were a lot more prepared for emergency situations, heck, even in our last bus we were way more prepared! But we have sooooo little space in this bus, it just isn’t an option without just putting things on the floor and them becoming a serious tripping hazard! But, we got it figured out 😉 thanks so much for watching!!

Next time, buy “Jug waters” for 3 to 4 jug waters from any stores near you…. It’s emergency reason! I know 3 to 4 “Jug waters” are very heavy to carry into Skoolie. But your children will help you with Jug waters. It’s blue jug waters. Put jug waters into storage or back of the bus. It’s simple that…..😊

I've only been to Galveston a couple of times and I've lived in Texas all my life. Watching your videos from there makes me want to go back again. May go to Corpus Christi and South Padre Island, too. P.S. It's warmer down there.

We have looked into south Padre Island, but there’s something about the familiar that keeps us coming back here. But hopefully our next trip we tour around a bit more. Do you know of any good RV parks on South Padre Island?

Great effort to last the 48 hours without running water. You planned it all out and y'all survived it well. Great to see Adri on the screen talking to Sabrina about the cold in Louisiana she called the Arctic Freeze. 😰🥶 Funny seeing the kids (especially Bethany and Jesse) dressing up warm ready for bed. It was like a circus act, or a show put on for the others to see. Also, Toby mentioned his two channels. The Pogo one is for gaming, though if you look back at older videos you'll see him jumping around on a Pogo stick and some funny content from some of the family. The Pattycakes bakery looked amazing. So cool for a viewer to comment on a recent video about the bakery y'all went to and were given all those treats, and clothing. The kids enjoyed the cookies. Emily loved it so much she wouldn't share some with her mom, and Alex thought the cookie was so special he ate his upside down. 🍪 Well done to Pattycakes! And then a visit to a playground recommended by Timothy (from the bakery). Another great video as usual. Looking forward to the next town y'all visit. Hopefully not as cold.

It’s been hard to find gluten free goodies, but recently I’ve been finding a lot more places that have them! Are you finding the same in your area, or is it just here in the south?

@@BoydFamilyAdventures the only place I know of around me is the prepackaged stuff at the grocery store. I believe there is a bakery in Birmingham, but I haven’t tried it. There is another bakery that makes cupcakes in my area that offers 1 or 2 gluten free options, but with Celiac and the likely cross contamination I am not willing to try it.
