Lady your video convinced me that I want small, traditional locks. They look adorable in the early stages; no scalp.

Hi beautiful 🤎 Omgg high school is the worst! I definitely get that and at the same time want to say don’t let anyone hold you back from living your best life! People will alwaysss have something to say or criticize smh so when we can find confidence in doing what’s best for us, life gets so much sweeter 🤗 You could also try out the updos I showed that covered the forehead or create a bang using bobby pins or a headband/scarf at first until the hair thickens or you feel more comfortable.

Fellow big head 👋🏾 lol. Locs got you covered, trust me! You can always do face framing or traditional bangs, especially with smaller locs! Plus, with the length retention that’s possible with locs, the focus will be on your beautiful long hair not your head. Plus, big foreheads are beautiful ion care what they say lol.

@@kahinamatata Thank you 😊! So, I’m no expert (my locs are about 3.5 years and I don’t do much with them). I cut a few shorter pieces in the front and just kind of layered them so the first two were the shortest, then the next a little longer and so on. It’s been over a year, so they’ve pretty much grown out, but thinking of doing it again. It just adds a little style, you know? I have thickish locs (semi freeform so not super uniform, but most are about sharpie size). I think bangs with thinner locs look so cute! I’m considering starting my own micros for my next set. I lived in mini braids and twists for a while, so I know I’d be able to do them myself. I’m just not ready to comb these out yet (waiting at least a few years). Thanks for your vids, love seeing the progress!

@@2013lovemy thank you so much girllll. It’s not that I’m insecure about my forehead or anything but sometimes it just gets in the way of things💀💀💀but I’ll definitely have to try that trick when I get my sister locks. My mom and I are doing our research about them and trying to find a loction which is kinda hard but we’re planning to book an appointment pretty soon. Hopefully have have them before spring wish me luck!!!❤️❤️❤️

I’m at that stage now and all I can say is OMG. I had traditional locs for 18 yrs, they were almost waist length. I cut most of the length off and combed out the rest . Honey, at the end I had about 3-4 inches of natural hair. I immediately started DIY microlocs the next day. I’m 10 days in and I’m struggling. You are right about the headbands because I don’t leave home without one. My locs are short and scalpy. I just need to get through the first month. Lucky for me I work from home so I only leave out to get groceries and to go to the gym.
@kahinamatata

Oh wow what a journey!! What made you decide to cut the traditional locs? And starting DIY the next dayyyy; that’s commitment! Lol I love it. Definitely sorry to hear that you’re struggling though!Thankfully what you said about getting through the first month is so right; sooo much changes that quickly! I probably would’ve used head scarves/wraps more too in addition to the headbands but I didn’t really have any or know how to do them 🤣

@@kahinamatata My traditional locs did not look healthy. It was hard to do styles because I had no defined parts except a center part. Styling my hair was limited. I feel that Microlocs looks and acts more like natural loose hair, and I like that. I love the styles and the movement of the locs. My traditional locs were “ Hot and Heavy”. I would cut them periodically but they would grow back so fast. Also I color my hair and last January and lost some locs. I ended up with bald spots, so I thought this was a great time to hit RESET. I’m so excited. I can already see some improvements after only 2 weeks. I hope my hair grows fast and loc faster. But I’m patient and willing to trust the process. Thanks for your inspiration. Your hair is gorgeous.

I hear that. It makes so much sense that you pivoted the journey and I’m glad you had the courage to do it because I know how we can hold onto things sometimes (especially hair!) in fear of change lol and after two weeks, seeing results already… just imagine a month from now! I hope the journey goes so well for you; time moves by so fast so by default, you’re in good hands lol (and it’s a good sign that your previous locs grew so fast!). Thank you for the compliment, beautiful! 🤎

I straightened my hair then put in small 2 strand twist. I felt hideous and hid under a wig. Definitely not sure about Locking now🤦🏽‍♀️ I have OCD about how I look and aging😔
@kahinamatata
@kahinamatata 7 ай бұрын
Oh no! Whew okay what I can say here is the 2-strand twists we manage to do on ourselves (unless you’re like really good with hair lol) are almost never as good-looking as the magic these stylists can give our heads! Plus, after keeping the twists in, they will thicken and get some shape and fill up all the empty space. If you’re still even slightly interested in locking up, I’d recommend to meet with a loctician for a consult to give you a better idea of what the style would really look like on you 🤎

How long did it take for the thin scalpy look take to resolve itself? My hair is not as long as yours and I'm still debating to go for it once I cut all the dye out of my hair.

Thank you for this video! Do you recall how soon after your install did you do your first wash? I was told 9-14 days after but then by several others, I was told near my first retie which is 5 weeks later. What are your thoughts or the thoughts of others in this comment section? Thx!!

Hi beautiful! You’re welcome 🤎 I had to check the calendar for this one lol my first wash was three weeks after. Looking back, I probably could have waited until the first retie but because of the holidays, my first retie had to be scheduled further back than usual (a little over 6 weeks). So my loctician and I decided to have a midway appointment so that she could do a wash for me and check in on how they were doing.

Your loctician should let you know though (ask if she doesn’t lol) about what timing might be best for you, because it may differ depending on your hair and lifestyle.
