Beautiful Brimwood farm, in the depths of the bleak grey winter it sometimes is hard to find the positives but we all have so much to be thankful for

Wholeheartedly agree. It can be hard to find the positives sometimes, but worth searching for them.

Something that always cheers you up is a few eggs in a incubator. Consider putting a couple in, just to bring some joy to your home. I got me some hyacinth bulbs to force. Their sprouts are just turning green. But fun and brings hope of spring just around the corner. 💖🌞🌵😷

Shhhh, don't tempt me! Hah. I haven't got any viable eggs at the moment but I HAVE been thinking about it. Great about your hyacinth bulbs. I love for them that very reason this season.

Hey Geoff. Yes we have to take all the weather that is thrown at us and like you, we have just had some, days of rain, sleet and high winds, it's gone quiet now and colder, with heavy frost. You have certainly had some rain judging by your land. We do what we have to do and it will pass. Best wishes. Johnny and Jacob.

We do. It's a slog at times but then there's the joy of this way of life when the weather is wonderful! 😌

I do feel for you Geoff, I don't know how you do it especially with mental health. Good days will come and it'll all be worth it.

So glad you're on a hill anyway, and the no dig is brilliant - as are the decorated sheep and magic pit!

The moss is delightful and so are the Christmas tree eating goats 😄. Will you be digging more ditches and pound in strategic places in the future?
@BrimwoodFarm
@BrimwoodFarm 5 ай бұрын
Definitely. The ditch system is pretty good but a HUGE amount of rainfall comes off my neighbours so I want to put in some more ponds up the hill to capture water and slow the runoff down.

Hey! Tell me about it! Wet wet wet is not just a pop group. Do you remember when I suggested you install a covered porch? Well I hate to say I told you so... So i wont. but I'll remind you in the summer before you are cought short again. ❤ True to say though, the rain is needed, like it or not. Take time out to see which ditches need clearing or (like in my case) creating, to clear next years abundance of falling drips. One thing that keeps my spirits up here is that those fences we all install on that blank canvas are now looking less new and that they belong. The gates still work to divide my original plans into two, and then three new paddocks or fields. The trees and bushes I planted years back look like they are permanent rather than just a pot short of free standing. Yes. NOW in this bleak time, is the time to enjoy the fruits that only you can appreciate. Cheers 🇬🇧

I haven't forgotten about the porch! I'm just still researching the best method/build for the site. I love how fencing and gates become such a delight! Great that they're now grounding themselves into the landscape; it's very satisfying.

@BrimwoodFarm Ee-oop! Flipping frost now! For me, living as you are currently, I fount that if on a budget ( who isn't ) the best solution is to build using wood that can be used again, and by bolting or screwing together using no joinery. For example, and not to preach, the frame of the floor is made using 4x2 rails, or c16 lumber. the C16 will be pre treated and can be used in a building construction in 10 years time if you like. It'll last. Rails will not last more than 5 yrs and need treating. Make any frame by not cutting the internal joists. Use c16 around the rails and only cut those. Use posts, treated, pushed into the ground to raise the frame-floor, much like your big shed. Use a third more foe a sturdy and non flexing floor. Either build walls around, with a door and screen it all off, or just treat like a railing system. Keep the corners long, for a roof suport. Place a roof on top. Distribute 2x6 c16 and remake the floor, a flat roor needs support in the center, so 2x6 is better. Top with Roofing sheets. Dont overdo the screws. Everything can be reused later. It's temp, so no planning required. im sure you know all this, but its so cheap and simple. Cheers 🇬🇧
