Lyrics:
There's a story in my eyes
Turn the pages of desire
Now it's time to trade those dreams
For the rush of passion's fire
I can feel you tremble when we touch
And I feel the hand of fate
Reaching out to both of us
I can't hold back
I'm on the edge
I can't hold back
Your voice explodes
Inside my head
I can't hold back
I won't back down
Girl, it's too late
To turn back now

I was thinking about the other day. I think history will look back and the 80s will be looked at as the pinnacle of American civilization. No major wars going on, the financial apex of the county. Everything was full of hope and optimism, no iPhones, no social media BS. It was really an amazing decade to grow up in.

I was born in 1968. Survivor was the best in 84- 85. I was a junior and senior. With Jimi Jamisons soaring voice. You would never have thought that he could sing like that. He was country as all get out. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. But when he sang it was like another entity. His talent will live on forever. 😀

No, friend. What the world will hopefully forget is the plastic fakery that took over. Today's youth are discovering these timeless classics through youtube when they're not wasting time on the immature Tiktok. I want to remain optomistic that young artists will look to this era not just as old-school to mock for it's cheesiness. But as aspiring them to create the anthems of tomorrow that will chant away this embarrasing era of twerking, sampling, autotune, banality, and vulgarity.

Survivor were the best - it just doesn't get any better than this. I remember seeing a rock band from Scotland called Knightrider playing live in Edinburgh and I said to their singer Tam Toye "Your voice sounds like Jimi Jamison from Survivor" and the guy told me that was the finest compliment anyone could bestow. That's how well respected Survivor were. Other rock bands saw Survivor as like a benchmark, a higher level of musicianship and talent. True genius.

Let me just say that I absolutely HATE all of you folks who were luck enough to grow up in this age! LOL. This, to me, is music with 100% passion backing it. The music of today is just littered with filth and grime. Everything is mean-spirited and/or sexualized, and we embrace it as a society.. which makes me sick! Technology may have advanced from 30 years ago, but I feel as if we've actually alienated ourselves from each other in the process! But then I listen to this song (and the whole album!) and it's pure gold! It has such a feel-good feeling to it that you can't help but visualize all of the classic 1980's movies that we all love. Maybe I'm wrong about this since I wasn't born until the late 80's so maybe somebody can chime in on this, but it feels like this time period had so much more class. You could absolutely fall madly in love with a woman, not because she sexualized herself for any man that would pass her by, but because YOU (and only you) saw the beauty deep within her that made you go crazy for her! And songs like this were written for that very reason! And now I'm rambling! :P I'm just very jealous!

There's a story in my eyes Turn the pages of desire Now it's time to trade those dreams For the rush of passion's fire I can feel you tremble when we touch And I feel the hand of fate Reaching out to both of us I've been holding back the night I've been searching for a clue from you I'm gonna try with all my might To make this story line come true Can ya feel me tremble when we touch Can ya feel the hand of fate Reaching out to both of us This love affair can't wait I can't hold back, I'm on the edge (I can't hold back) You voice explodes inside my head I can't hold back, I won't back down Girl it's too late to turn back now Another shooting star goes by And in the night the silence speaks to you and I And now the time has come at last Don't let the moment run too fast I can feel you tremble when we touch And I feel the hand of fate reaching out to both of us There's a story in my eyes, turn the pages of desire Now it's time to trade those dreams For the rush of passion's fire I can't hold back, I'm on the edge (I can't hold back) You voice explodes inside my head I can't hold back, I won't back down Girl it's too late to turn back now

I'm 57 in 2022. I live along a scenic park road north of Daytona Beach. Lots of motorcycles pass by here, and right when I start feeling like I'm the only nostalgic lover of hits from the 70s and 80s, I hear songs like this echoing from motorcycle speakers in the near distance. The sound grows, then I recognize the song, then the words and instruments are lost again. But I'm happy with the words from God that remain behind: 'You're not alone, and the music you love hasn't died."

There is new music like this. Check out Dino Jelusick. He has lots of original stuff, plus he's done a bunch of 80's covers on his YT channel. His voice is amazing & brings back so many wonderful memories. It gives me hope for the future of rock/metal music! ☺☺

Jimi Jamison''s voice is absolutely magical. Survivor was a great band with him as the lead singer and, course, they were all great musicians/songwriters. All of his personal albums are fantastic. Outstanding voice to the end. His voice is irreplaceable.❤

It was July of 1985. I was 17 years old and laying on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii. I had my Sony Walkman and this is the first song that played. Never forget it. Surreal moment. I’m 52 years old now and that moment stays with me. Always look back on that when the world gets me down and it immediately puts a big smile on my face.

They all have an OFF switch, you know. Incidentally, a guy who jumped off the Golden Gate said his first thought after jumping was regret for having jumped. Yes, you can live. Out of 30 jumpers or so, maybe one lives. There are about 3 a month that jump. See "The Bridge." It's about that. You have to go help someone else and quit thinking about yourself. It's the only cure.
