I was never a big Elvis fan, but my Mom was. She played his songs all the time. I heard this song so many times, but until Angelina did her interpretation, I never really heard "the words" before. Any time I'm asked what my favorite song by Angelina is, I just reply "The last one I heard", and in this case it certainly applies. My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

Six days after the publication of this little masterpiece, I can't stop listening to it, it's absolutely fascinating and exciting. I love his voice so powerful, warm and delicate at the same time and I keep moving, every time. Angelina has always been wonderfully engaging, but now her voice gets warmer and deeper each time and her slower version of this iconic song is truly fantastic, for me much closer to the emotion of the lyrics than Elvis's version. 💛🧡❤️

Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great and it always was, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammes), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. 🙂

First and foremost, each experiences music in their own way. To talk about beautiful music and exchange our ideas and feelings is fun. I really like the haunted quality of the music and the sound of the singing of Fine Young Canibals. It does not give me the emotional connection I feel with Angelina’s version. The lyrics, to me, are about a relationship gone toxic because suspicion and distrust are ruining a thing of beauty, their love. With Angelina I feel a sadness and also she seems resigned that things must change no matter what and she brings out the story. I enjoy listening to all three versions though, my ranking is a little different :-) Thanks!

I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. Unlike Billie Jean, Suspicious Mind and Yellow Brickroad, Angelina didn't change this song to much, mostly because this recording was a tribute to Withney Houston, who passed away in 2012. Even so, she brought the song to a much more lower tone, with original runs and flows with a more jazzy voice, and even added the line "Don't you dare..!" twice. Besides that, this song is one of the most dificult to sing well, it's a very test for any singer... and, let's say: she nailed it....!!!

Saw the new Elvis movie the other night which this is used in. It's written obviously between suspicious romantic partners, but had a completely different meaning in the movie because it was used as symbolism of the relationship between Elvis and his manager Col Tom Parker - anytime Elvis tried to escape from him, he'd present him with a huge bill of money due for past services rendered, which Elvis couldn't afford to pay, thus leaving him 'caught in a trap, can't walk out'....very poignant scene.
