I quit doing “resolutions” a few years ago. What I have been doing are things I want to accomplish - like 23 things to do in 2023. These can be anything. Last years involved cleaning out a closet I’d been avoiding, going on a picnic to a near park, it can be anything that I want to do. I find this to be much more effective than just do resolutions for a week and move on.

I used to do this and then for my birthday this year I decided to start it again but in a way more fun way. I'm learning alot about what I actually want to do because I've ticked them off easily and then others I'm not as excited by since I first wrote them in April. I think I'm going to carry it on as a tradition though, it's helped me when I get stuck on what I could be doing with my time. Some of my favourites have been: try a new place to eat every month, go to the movies 6 times, learn to knit from my mum, buying 5 t-shirts to support independent artists/designers, donate blood. I did 31 things written on my 31st bday.

You are so right that community is way more important than numbers. I like the idea of 8 week Immy seasons then a break! And the good thing about you having built such a strong community is that you know we will be here after a little break, even if that’s not what the algorithm says 🥰 When you spoke about all the books you plan to read, it made me think that it would be really cool if you did something like ‘Immy’s book club’ where at the end of an 8 week ‘season’ you could suggest a book for us all to read over your break, then we could all come together to discuss. You and your community’s reflections are always so intelligent and inspiring so it would be amazing to do something together! Also on numbers - you said you should be less focused on growing your audience, but I think you are totally growing your audience. I truly feel that I am learning with you and growing leaps and bounds with every video you make!! Laaaastly (sorry for the essay!) you are absolutely glowing at the end when talking about the year to come and the light in your eyes is so beautiful. Have a great Christmas and New Year Immy and thank you for everything you’ve done this year 💖

Like a lot of vegan foods, but especially at trader joes, the fewer the ingredients the better. That pesto is so good and I also really like their lentil pasta. Their shelf stable cartoned soy milk is a dupe for a very expensive brand. Because it doesn't have stabilizers in it, its ideal for making yogurt with. Second another comment that cultivate would be a good word or even bloom. Hope yall got to where you were going and stay safe in this blizzard!

I had similar goals as you but for this year that’s coming to a close. I think my word was “Do”. I would get hung up in thinking about doing things and would never actually do them, so 2022 was a year of trying to actually Do things. It went well honestly! I like setting goals each year not to stick to them but to clearly see what I’m interested in at that time and reflect on it in the future or next year to see progress. It helps me as someone who is quite forgetful. It’s also a very grounding activity for me.

Happy holidays and safe travels! It's kind of a wicked time for traveling in the midwest with the blizzards and cold (I'm in Minnesota, and at least we're used to it). I stumbled upon your videos just a couple of months ago and I've really enjoyed what you create! As for goals, one of mine is finding a new job, since I lost mine in November. It was a very stressful job so I want to be really intentional about choosing something that is good for me this time. I have some things I want to do this coming year, but I think generally I'm on a mission to get "un-stuck" in my life and grow beyond my comfort zone. I've had issues because of past traumas that have stood in the way of me accomplishing things I want in my life, and I'm working to change that. To not let fears stop me. Maybe it's a bit similar to your "saying yes." Happy New Year, everyone!

Really like this video! Great energy and ideas! I want to explore and then settle in a new routine in 2023. I moved abroad a year ago and in 2022 soooo much changed and it was a super exhausting year (graduating uni, immigration stuff, personal hurt and healing, etc.). In January I'll start my dream job and I'll have to figure out a completely new routine which I'm excited for after a super chaotic year that made it impossible to establish a routine. Also excited to see more content from you :)

Your videos have really been a blessing for me this year. It was a very exiting, but challenging year. I finished school and moved from Austria to Scotland for university without knowing anybody there. I went so far out of my comfort zone that I sometimes felt a bit lost. Your videos helped me stay grounded and remember my values. My intention for 2023 is to establish a routine, a structure of habits that will help me become the best version of myself, and to start building the foundations for a fulfilling life in this beautiful country that I have always wanted to live in and that already feels like home. I am so looking forward to the content you will put out next year and to learn more about sustainability and simple living!

One thing to note about trader joes is that their products are very inconsistent compared to other large american stores. They regularly change their suppliers and recipes (as well as seasonal variations in the taste of ingredients) so just because you like or don't like a product one time doesn't mean you will or won't the next time.

I think a lot of people experience such incredible growth and drastic changes in their 20's that it feels like we're meant to keep up that intense pace forever. We achieve a goal and immediately set another, always thinking about the next step. There's always more to learn and ways to improve our habits/routines, but I'm learning in my 30s that I've done the groundwork and can now prioritize the sustainability of my habits and commitments. So for me, I continue to seek ways to challenge myself, but I don't throw myself into the deep end like I did in my 20s. I've since found I don't burn out like I used to. Sustainability continues to be my intentional word and each year I feel like it's definition expands for me. PS Good luck with the Michigan drive and be safe.

As per ushe, this video has generated so many awesome thoughts and inspirations for me, but I’ll start by saying… vegan Egg Nog, oh yah baby!! I’m 💯 jelly!! Temperatures have been dropping down to -40ºc for the past five days, and now our water is frozen… so while we were out trying to thaw the out-take pipe in our well, we saw a cow and calf moose in our winter pasture. This reminds me to look for the positive even when I am feeling frustrated or let down. Immy, perhaps you might be interested in the book that I intend to read over the holidays, it is called “Year of Yes” (Shonda Rhimes). The author commits to one year of saying “yes” to everything that scares her… and since I am approaching a big upcoming change in my life, I think this book might help inspire me to step forward with courage and an open mind. I don’t do big goals, instead I rely on my bullet journal to work on small daily challenges, and to accomplish things just a little bit at a time. With that said, in 2023 I want to focus on my niche hobbies (freestyle yoyo, kendama, and kites) and also crafting/sewing stuff from upcycled materials. I hope to really shine at these hobbies by learning new skills, and also performing and exhibiting more in a public setting. As for your ideas, Immy, I say “yes” to downplaying numerical growth and to up-play growth that piques your interests and curiosity. Pulling on the threads of curiosity or interest may take you places that being driven will never to lead to. I also love the idea of seasonal content. I could ramble on, but instead I would like to say a massive thank-you for sharing so much of yourself and your journey with us. I learn so much from you and I love the positivity and feel-good vibes that I get from you and this community. Mega-thanks, and I look forward to running water, lots of “yeses”, and great things to come in 2023. Thanks also for your great Patreon content. Much love, safe travels, and happy holidays to you and all who may read this. 🥶💦Ⓜary💕🎄

Hi Immy, I was so glad to find there was a Trader Joe's in Colorado Springs, when I moved back a few years ago. I definitely want to try the O Nog. I’m a climber with a fear of heights, I’ve been doing bouldering and top rope at the gym since 2019, and it hasn’t really helped with my fear of heights outdoors unfortunately 🥴 I think there’s 2 main reasons why: first, the scale is just different. A 40m tall climbing wall isn’t the same as a cliff, and my brain definitely goes « fhgrytpsk » when I’m close to a cliff (like I pass out). The second thing is the perception that you’re in control vs not. I built the confidence that when I’m climbing at the gym I’m in control so I feel pretty good, but outdoors there’s so many more variables that I don’t think I’ll ever get that same feeling. Anyway I don’t mean to be discouraging, and I really hope you get what you want from climbing and mountaineering :) just sharing my experience!

I still do "resolutions" but they're less "go to the gym every day" and more "spend more time focusing on my physical health" if that makes sense. It takes the pressure off of pushing myself too far and makes it possible to achieve these resolutions!

Definitely late to this video but if you decide to purchase more ski gear, I highly recommend looking into whether local ski teams/clubs hold annual ski swap fundraisers. When I used to race competitively, my team would always help put on this community event where people could bring gear to sell and to shop for secondhand items. It is a really popular way for ski teams to raise money so I wouldn’t be surprised if they also happen in Colorado.

I have universally bad luck with any Trader Joe’s bread products. It goes bad in about two days, no matter how you store it. Keep making your own since you have the time! So much better. And Trader Joe’s is in more states than not. You might like the Trader Joe’s sweet potato tortilla chips. Happy New Year!

Thinking about next year I think my intention is to find meaning. I feel I've really lost that especially in the last year and I'd like to seek that out. I don't know what it will end up being but I'll be realistic in that it will probably take longer than a year but at least I'll have started that journey to find more meaning in my life :)

Not to go on and on about the Trador Joe's hummus lol but what I particularly like about it is the texture compared to a lot of other store bought hummus (although I love the red pepper flavor so if you don't I could see not liking it). I feel like you might have but so little on the bagal that the texture didn't shine through but I don't know.

My biggest goal for 2023 is to graduate with a master's degree. It'll probsbly take most of the year, and I'm not sure if I'll make it before the end of the year, but if I don't I'm hoping to be at least close to finishing my degree at the end of the year. And like you, I'd like to be the fittest I've ever been (I think I'm already close to that) but also get past the issues I have with training (some weak spots causing me pain).

I got the idea of a theme/word from shelbizzle and I want to make my theme of 2023 "action". Like I suckkkk at NY resolutions so I think by making a broad theme it'll be easier for me to stick too like it could just be taking action to advance my career or action as in moving my body or climate action.

I hope you were able to make your flight to Michigan. DIA cancelled close to 500 flight today due to the frigid weather.
