Good point with the jump from Coach Suzuki. Michael Stich didn't jump really high, only a little and he had one of the best serves in the history of tennis! :)

He's right. I hit a couple of near perfect practice serve down the T by tossing the ball higher and jumping higher. But in a match I would get tired and can't jump as high. A simple first serve that is accurate is more important than a fast and powerful serve. Also the pro might seems like they first serve very hard but they really have very good technique that maximize the momentum of their body and arm going forward. It's why some pro never grunt on first but grunt on second serve because second serve require much more power from the server.

Wow!.. Really clear lesson even for intermediate to advanced players to generate easy power on the serve. The foot placement and step in to the serve seems very important for balance. This coach Takao San played some terrific points against legend of our sport -Roger at the AO and Japan Open 2006. The serving was totally amazing! Same technique shown here for tennis fans to learn from.. Thank you!

suzuki has to be doing something right to have a game built around his serve when he's 5'9". incredible really. I cannot think of another player at a similar height (or shorter) that had such an effective serve on tour.

This is one of the best video on slice serve. It really helps me to visualise where to contact the ball and it has improved my serve. I would like to see video on one handed backhand as that is my biggest weakness.

Great video! Good ideas for developing a "back up" more reliable serve. The camera work was nice, too. A video on footwork (recovery and where to stand in different situations) would be great, especially with practice drills. 🍁🌼🎾

Hi Star Academy. I love the way Takao taught so much and hope you can make a super slow motion of his server/slice server. I think his technique is very suitable for middle age like me. Thank you.

I have been following these videos for some time and find them extremely useful. Coach Takao has a very beautiful all round game technique. My only regret is that they are in Japanese and text translation is quite poor and somewhat cumbersome to read while watching demonstration at the same time

Guys I love your channel and extreme attention to details and explanations. Can you please make a video one day on how to transfer weight using the legs on the groundstrokes because I know that adds a huge amount of power but am not sure how to do it. And with your explanation I'm you can understand it. Thanks. Already subscribed with the bell button on. thx and keep up the good work

About this lovely girl, maybe I can give her some advice to avoid shoulder injuries. This gentleman is right, when we want to increase our serving speed, waving forward will put too much pressure on our shoulders. It is better to wave up rather than forward. Imagine your hands and racket are like whips. When you swing up, the racket will reverse like the end of a whip. You can try to use this method to serve. Good luck!

She's talented. Form is natural and relaxed, just lack power. Most recreational players have way worse serve form.

@@RocketMan-zc9jr I’m not the teacher bro. But anyways, u can see her pronating. As the racket goes behind her back it shows that she is pronating. Also, u can watch it in slow motion to see her pronating while hitting the ball :)

The pronation is an automatic process of the swing motion. You can’t purposely pronate. If you want to know about this and other stuff you should watch the channel ”intuitive Tennis“. It’s one the the few Tennis Channels on YT that is 100% knowledge and no bullshit or myths or flawed teaching methods.
