In this video we compared eight Mid-size SUVs: Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Haval H9, Chevrolet Trail Blazer, Volkswagen Touareg, BAIC BJ 40 Plus, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 150 & UAZ Patriot.

Apparently there's at least another test on the same day, where the Pajero failed to pass the course and the VW only did slightly better, while the other trucks comfortably beat the course. I don't understand why Diyas don't want to show that video clip, maybe for fear of offending or butthurting some fanboys.

@@teofilol2666 That Pajero doesn't have the legendary S-AWC so that's why it failed lol there's no hurting fanboys here, we all know that Mitsubishi pioneered 4WD and AWD systems, they released there first 4WD car in 1933 and they invented traction control systems

For a car based SUV, the Touareg is more than good enough for inexperienced offroad drivers. Other car makers could learn a thing or two from VW but most of these car based SUVs are rarely taken offroad.

The Touareg was designed from the ground up to be an SUV not a car. See the sister 955 Cayenne vs Jeep Wrangler... it’s a good watch!

@@OverlandTT The first Touareg was designed to be an all-rounder. But people didn't buy the off-road package. So VW decided the next generation will be road-focused, so they dropped the off-road abilities and made the car lighter and more fuel-efficient.

I would say beating but keeping up, 4x4 low range and diff lock is going take you further than most electrickery systems especially technical rock climbs.

Para mi mitsubishi montero destaca mucho desde hace mucho tiempo por su sistema de suspencion y el centro de gravedad que ayuda mucho. For my mitsubishi montero it stands out a lot for a long time for its suspension system and the center of gravity that helps a lot.

I don't know why people thinks Volkswagen Touareg is an on road focused vehicle. People are wrong, it's a 99% off road focused vehicle. Maybe people assume it cause the one in this video doesn't come with 4L and H with diff, but the one I own does.

@@stanyphilip8086 off road focused with no frame and independent suspension? not even close notice how it lifted wheels at every opportunity even over slight obstacles? not offroad focused in the slightest. a wrangelr is a 99% offroad vehicle, a prado is 50-50 a touareg is 99% on road

The Volkswagen sure was impresive, despite relying on "dated" electronics, did everything with little fuss. On the other hand, the Toyotas seem to have underperformed and failed to live up to the standard that most people have set for them (without turning all mecanical aids on)

@@alanmay7929 Not really that big if You also consider the width of each car in the test. Also, the two chinese suv and Trailblazer look about the size of Prado. Wouldn't be surprised if Touareg had similar weight compared to gasoline Toyota (which is also the result of being the most "luxurious" in the bunch).

@@alanmay7929 Then You should check the dimensions of all cars. Patriot, Trailblazer, H9 and Touareg are wider than Prado. Haval is slightly shorter than Toyota, but its almost five meters lenght is measured with spare tire. Without it (Prado can be bought that way) its shorter than H9 (which can be ordered with external spare tire that makes it slightly above five meter long). With LUX trim chinese suv weight 2230kg. Touareg with 3.6 engine weight 2250kg. 7seater Prado with 2.8 diesel weight 2300kg. It's worth to add that diesel and turbocharged engines are heavier compared to natural aspirated. Touareg with 3.0 diesel weight 2345kg.
