Looks fantastic,I like the b model front mudguard, it cleans the lines up, if you’re looking for a front mudguard,there’s an eBay page ,that does a really good replica a model mudguard & it’s a very good copy,on the indicators, there’s a place in Basildon that can spray paint chrome,so all could be not lost,Mike brewer from wheeler dealers was restoring a 65 mini & the guy chrome sprayed the mirrors & the front grill & it looks great the episode is s17 episode 1

People spend more to restore it than what it cost brand new when it was new.

Hi, I had one of these new in 1976 in Scotland, lovely bike. I am now in Australia, trying to recreate one and having trouble identifying the colour - I recall it was fairly solid, with maybe a touch of fleck in it but my memory is poor. Definitely not candy apple, I think it might be Candy Calypso Red with code 00T - RS Bike Paints provided me with Flake Orange but it is the 1974 orange version. I have heard the UK bike equivalent to Candy Calypso Red might have been called Flake Orange No 2! What a mess - do you know the colour of yours, and did you get a match for the new side panel? Any help much appreciated!

Hi Michael, I'm sorry I didn't actually know, I was told it's some sort of flake orange rather than red although it definitely looks red most of the time. A friend of mine matched up the colour by eye from the tank, he's an experienced paint sprayer and I'm very happy with the results. So far nobody has noticed that they aren't an exact match. Hope you find the colour

@@mcmechanic864 Thanks - I have been back in touch with RS Bike Paints, and they now have the Candy Calypso Red available (my original order was in 2015!) - I believe it was a US Market colour but obviously quite a few came to the UK as well. I have placed an order so am on my way now to making the bike look original - happy days. Great job on your bikes by the way, and great source of info - the 70's Suzuki's are lovely, but can be tricky at times!

Where did you manage to locate those missing parts? Even "ONS" will now be very thin on the ground, such as the original exhaust pipes and other parts from that era. I rebuilt a tired looking GT550 back in 1983, and even then, parts were hard to find.

Best thing to do is join the Kettle Club, the exhaust on my bike are not new they are secondhand. 🙂

Hi.. inspired by your videos , i myself have bought 380GT which requires a full restoration. I have no experience with restoration but i can follow manuals and videos(like yours). Can you let me know where you got your re-chroming done ? Cheers * i saw a comment stating Dug Heath ?
@mcmechanic864
@mcmechanic864 Жыл бұрын
Best thing to do is Google restoring GT 380, the are books that will help you and as you say videos on KZfaq. I did get my Chrome done by Dug Heath, but he's in Baldock, that might not be local to you. You're better off getting someone local. Good luck 🙂

Hi John, I think you'll have to join the kettle club, he only sells to club members unfortunately. It's definitely worth joining, I got so many parts from club members. If you do join it's Nick Lowe that makes them and he's the club secretary 🙂
