Having owned an RF900 for over 15 years, I have just sold it but still watch your videos. Well done for this one which I think is your best. Clear, concise and simple making a "hard" improvement, much more manageable for a novice mechanic. Well done again.

You should still use the metal washer on the needle, that goes under the plastic washer, it says in the Instructions use all the stock! spacers! Very good video though 👍

Hi Adrian, here's Curt again. I was just looking around in the German forums again, how to remove the reduced effect of 98hp that many RF900Rs have around here, and ended up kind of bewildered. One guy was wondering, why those RFs with reduced effects have the larger 115 jets...and then you are to put the smaller 112,5 in instead in order to achieve more hp, which he thought made no sense in his mind - overall there seemed to be 2 different ways to tackle the entire problem. (With me having applied the official Suzuki way). A) Suzuki: They say to replace to the fully open intake manifolds (36mm instead of 24mm) AND change the main jets from 115 to 112,5 --> 99kw/135hp B) Alphatechnik: They only says to replace the intake manifolds (36mm instead of 24mm) BUT keep the 115 main jets ---> 91kw/124hp How would you make sense out of this, I'm technically not experienced, but interested...before my carbs were cleaned and with those 115 jets still in with reduced effect, my RF900 soaked gas like a drunken sailor, but after the carbs were cleaned, balanced & ok, fuel consumption was just fine...still I read, that someone claimed that with the 112,5 jets you reach a deceisively better fuel milage. How does your RF ride with the 118 jets, more power, lower gas milage? Your dyno chart ist great, and that was before modifications I believe!!! For sure 130hp (crank) and 99Nm (crank), wow & congratulations!😁👍

Hi buddy. My bike had 112.5 main jets when i first got it and it was quite good on fuel then. Over time i started messing around with bolt on mods like exhaust, KN filter etc and finally DynoJetted my carbs. As soon i stuck those 118 mains there my fuel consumption worsened but i was expecting that so no tears. Bigger jets mean more fuel going in so bike will always burn a bit more gas. Derestricting of those bikes can be a right pain in the neck i heard. It could be intake rubbers, could be jetting but some people say that it could be really lame camshafts or ever restrictive CDI. Hope you get it sorted.

Hi. Great vid thanks. I have an RF that’s had a dyno jet kit fitted. Fuelling is all over the place. I also have the standard jests and needles. My question is what would the standard setting be for the pilot screw? My intention is to return it to standard before trying to extract any more power. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@Adikxx3 жыл бұрын
Standard setting on mixture screws differs depending on the market the bike was originally sold at. Some were set richer , others a tad leaner but 1.5 turns out could be a rough starting point for stock bike i guess. Stock pilot jets are 12.5 and mains are 112. Float heights at 7mm. Make sure emulsion tubes aren't out of round, needles worn and all o-rings and gaskets are sound. Any of those parts being worn and you'll be chasing your tail for eternity. Hope this helps

Hi pal , just a quick question for you , is it only some of the RF 900s that have a Welch screw . I don't have any on my RS2 . I've just serviced my carbs and didn't notice any . plus how do you find the kit .. cheers 👍 always enjoy your video's I've learnt so much . maybe you should do a float height one 😄 .
@Adikxx4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dylan, i think all of them had fuel screws plugged and most probably those on ur carbs were removed by previous owner.Either way it's great news cause drilling them out is a pain in the rectum :) I thought of doing a vid on floats but Bob did a great one years ago and it has lots of views so thought no point anymore. He knows RF carbs bloody well. Hi Adrian, I running some tests with my tuned RF900. I tried 114 and 118 mainjets. Keep in mind that I have K&N, Cobra Exhaust, dyno mod and 990ccm. With 118 it felt a bit rich in high rpms Vmax was about 260km/h. With 114 it felt better up to 9000rpm - but not the power I would expect. I will now Try 115 and 112,5 to see the difference. Have u some experience with more ccm Engine-Mods ? Greetings from Germany :-D

Any chance you know the diameter of the drill bit as i have jets but not the drill bit. And also what is the function of having the adjustable needle?
@Adikxx4 жыл бұрын
From what i remember drill bit was size 2 or 3. Adjustable needle allows fine tuning of fueling. The lower the needle the leaner the mixture, the higher the richer.

Hi.According to the manual, the surface of the gasoline should be 6.9 + -1 mm. Is there a weight error in it?
@Adikxx2 жыл бұрын
that 1mm up or down is your safety margin.
@010462215t2 жыл бұрын
Hi. My question was that it could be 6.9 mm correct because 2 carburetors were left without gasoline? And according to the picture the head nozzle was lower than on my bike and its surface had to be measured.

@Adikxx Жыл бұрын
@@marcokraus9730 Most of people who rode their RFs for a while and have a good feel of engine's power delivery notice improvement that comes from ignition advancer. I did. If i was to choose between DynoJet kit or ignition advancer for the RF i would no doubt take the advancer. It's easier to install, it's a lot cheaper and no setting up is required. Literally put it on and forget about it.

Anyone watching this be sure not the make the same mistake of using a screwdriver that's too small for the jet its only brass and you will damage it, always use the correct size screwdriver.
