Lock mode may did better because there was a lot of ice under the snow. The car had street tyres and not winter tyres and also there was a lot of ice under the snow. Some others 4WD cars with also street tyres tried the same and they did not manage to get through with 25 km/h but they manege with 45 km/h

The car has the wrong type of tires for this type of test. With snow tires you would see a dramatic difference. Street tires just can't grip no matter what type of awd or 4wd you have.

These cars come with summer tyres from new,in the uk we only have a dusting of snow but it shows how good this 4x4 system is .but the car is greatfor slippery roads or towing on grass.

AT tyres would be best for this off road, but nobody will buy this car for that, so as long as we just accept it has normal road tyres, it does well enough based on that fact. Most reviewers are not going to go to the expense of hundreds of dollar for AT tyres either, just for the test. Personally, in the UK this would cope with any bad road conditions with a set of Michelin Cross climates.

its all about tyres,my 2wd swift with winter tyres would get throw that easy

first two times you actually helped "lock mode" to go all the way.. third time you would go all the way even in auto mode lol

Try Suzuki Vitara Boosterjet, I think both S-Cross and Vitara have same 4wd system. So both amazing

Old SX4 was/is snow machine. S Cross is no much different in that sense. 1.6 diesel is bit raw but it fits great. I wish old one had that 1.6 and cheaper price unlike 2.0 jtd that was bit to expensive..

Subaru Forester or Outback would have walked that. Proper real-time AWD, not using electronic gizmos.

Any light car with winter tyres would cross immediatly this snow part.... This video doesn't demonstrate de capability of this SUV on snow... The driver would need some training...
