Following a partial closure of the line, the Swanage Railway were running a special timetable with DMU services 'Over the Road' between Corfe Castle and the River Frome bridge, within sight of Wareham.
The closure, in effect between Swanage and Harmans Cross, follows the filming of a feature film set in the Wartime. The 'Over the Road' services, rostered with Class 108 DMU M54504+M51933, see trains run as far as the River Frome bridge - the current limit of Swanage metals - just outside Wareham. Services start from Corfe Castle and pass through the usual limit of the line at Norden. Normal timetable resumes as of Wednesday the 27th of July.
Thank you very much to the driver, Steve, and Andy for allowing me the into the Cab, and the permission to film the trip.
All footage filmed on Tuesday the 26th of July 2016.

I’ve seen many of your YT videos on Swanage Railway and beyond - a long way beyond…. But the intimate and special record of this period during works and extraneous diversions, whilst others were filming elsewhere… underline your skill and simplistic (not negatively) recordkeeping are brilliant. Thanks for making it available, even from 7 years ago.

Just found this, and watched because the last time I travelled over this route was in 1980, on a Neptune track recording trolley for BR! (from Furzebrook to Poole)

Excellent video, with great production standards and values - - seems to be a rare thing on The KZfaq these days. Most railway films on here, the videographer seems to wave the camera about - like a flag - and then seems to want to use *every* flashy effect, dissolve or transition that their editing software contains! This video is a refreshing change. You've let the content of the video be the star of the show - which is how it should be. The transitions used are perfect for signifying the passage of time (ie, changing ends), and the camera work is perfect - nice steady shots, great tripod work. Sound quality is brilliant - clean, crisp audio quality, good levels, no distortion, and I didn't have to keep turning the volume up and down. Congratulations on a great video - really enjoyed watching this. There is no way it could be improved upon. As I always say when I find a decent video: other railway videographers could learn a lot from this programme. Well done again. Kind Regards, Zac.

Wonderful to watch. It was good to see parts of the line I haven't seen since the last time I walked the line in the late 1970's. I'm looking forward to doing the full length of the line again next year 45 or years since I last went from Wareham to Swanage.

Superb footage of the route indeed! You really get a superb view of all the hard work that's been put into with the view from the front of the DMU. Really is surprising how long it is. Never new about the Oil and Stone Terminal near the end. Excellent work and thanks for sharing!

Thanks very much mate! Was very lucky indeed to be able to film this. I knew of the terminals, but didn't know much else about them. However, the Clay terminal is currently home to 31625.

Cool video! At 14:52, what does the sign on the right-hand side of the line say (opposite signal PW5752)? I can make out 'LIMIT OF RUNNING' at the top and 'MUST NOT PASS THIS POINT' at the bottom, so I assume it regards special instructions about gaining authority to proceed further onto NR, but I'm curious to know what the rest of the text on it says.

Cheers! The sign reads "Limit of Swanage Railway Operations - Swanage Railway Trains Must Not Pass This Point". The bridge serves as the boundary between Swanage and NR metals.

Great stuff. But does it really take two people lineside to do the token exchanges?

Bridge at 12:46 looks like it was built for double track. Was this line singled at some time?

@@TheSouthernerYTChannel Ah, right. Maybe, like on parts of the M&GN, bridges were built with doubling in mind at a later stage. That does look wide enough for double track...
