I built my entire sound design career on Audacity for the first two years before I began investing in better equipment, such as a foley mic. I still use Audacity despite having Cubase, Reaper, and Ableton Live. Everything you need to get yourself off the ground is free.

Thanks for the audio series guys!! Coming from an animator, this is great for those who want to create their own sounds rather than having to purchase stock audio that doesn't suit your standards. :)

Do you guys ever use synths to make sounds, like hardware (keyboard/vpads etc) or software (FruityLoops/Reason etc)? Even just the playlist mixing/automation in Fruity Loops can be extremely useful for mixing samples, sometimes with effects on them ;P. Just make sure you set the project settings to 960tic instead of 96 for 10x the resolution in time editing/synth generation! Thanks for the great vid by the way (& getting wet for us haha).

why didn't you show the EQ and stacking process? Did you do it with a sampler? with a computer? How did you decide which samples to use? You showed recording the sounds and that's it. I'm a little disappointed as I was hoping for a tjorough walk-through.
