I bought a connector off eBay, drilled a hole in the side of the case, installed a micro switch and ran it to the passive/active jumper inside the case now I have a switch for active/passive basses also

Love Dino. However when I see him my room gets a little smaller as more equipment arrives. Thanks Dino! Haha

Hello it would be helpful if the ultra low and ultra high would glow when engaged

This came built into my Ampeg BA-210v2.
@michaelbell755 жыл бұрын
Except this sounds 10 times better than the BA series amps when running thru a quality amp. The BA-210 is a terrible amp with lousy speakers and all kinds of issues.

How did you have the xlr and line out run? I tried to do it xlr to FOH and line out to my amp and it was heavily distorted and sounded terrible. Not sure I had it setup properly for that. Should I be using the effects loop on my portaflex500
@roelverberne77353 жыл бұрын
the line out is not for your amp, u should use the thru output for it
@garrydhintz8017 Жыл бұрын
You know what sucks here is that he actually sounds better with the eq bypassed here. That sucks because I really want to like this pedal but that was really leaves much to be desired.
@neilsnow7973 Жыл бұрын
Yep I was thinking...man when it was bypassed it was not a bad sound really and very full...then he turned the pedal on and the bass nearly disappeared completely. Why would you wanna make the bass guitar quieter?

No. The outs still work,=, DI, etc.
@santanajackson61607 жыл бұрын
I think it would better if it was used on a combo amp . if you looking for an excellent sound then that pedal would serve a better purpose . by the way thats a nice hartke stack
@rand73176 жыл бұрын
The pedal off counts as one sound you can get with the pedal ?????
@M.Holland5 жыл бұрын
well, yes! since its a di pedal with a pre-amp and distortion. with everything of you just use the DI it self.

can this work on its own with a cabinet speaker? or is an amplifier head need?
@kameronwraithd.k.5363 Жыл бұрын
I have the same doubt.
@markpatton1128 Жыл бұрын
I drive both channels of QSC GX7 with the SCR. Ch1 of GX7 drives Mark Bass 2x10 cab and Ch2 of GX7 drives Mark Bass 4x10 cab. So you need either a power amp like I'm doing or an amp with preamp/power.
@stefanodegerome5586 Жыл бұрын
It will work with a speaker without any other amp needed.

"Let me just disengage that so we can hear the difference" *No difference*
@LunatiqueRob4 жыл бұрын
If you couldn't hear the difference, you might have been listening on less than adequate speakers/headphones that don't cover full-range frequency response.
@allrequiredfields4 жыл бұрын
The difference was with it off, it's a tone you might actually be able to use live. With it on, that tone would get swallow by a live band unless you're playing acoustic ballads.
@Minnevan3 жыл бұрын
It’s pretty easy to hear with my cheap headphones.
@michaelbonanno7476 Жыл бұрын
Must be something wrong with my ears because when he disengaged the pedal to just hear the bass on its own, it didn't sound all that different than when the pedal was engaged. And yes I'm listening through great speakers (Adam Audio T8's). That is a great sounding bass (without the pedal!)

Seems to be a more rounded tone when the pedal is off, but I can definitely hear how the pedal can get the bass out of the way of other things in the mix. If you were trying to play the intro to "For Whom the Bell Tolls", something like this would definitely fit.
@LCA19854 жыл бұрын
You are not alone, but I think is because the EQ he added on the preamp. He scooped the mids and boosted the lows and highs...that kind of poor (imo) sound...
@allrequiredfields4 жыл бұрын
Good god, none of those tones will work in a live setting. All that massively be scooped shit sounds pretty when you're sitting next to it in your room, by yourself, but it's entirely useless live. Also, if you're going to make videos for bass gear, it really shouldn't be that hard to get a real bass player - this guy is a guitar player and it shows.
@biga68563 жыл бұрын
allrequiredfields Facts it colors your tone and scooped it way too much, It does not sit good in live setting for me at all. l ended up selling it ASAP And ended up getting the Tc Spectra a drive and Aguilar TH. Both pedals are night and day compare to the Ampeg. Both of my new pedals sounds killer in a live gig.
@salzulli62903 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the genre and mix. A scooped sound works with old school EQ styles where the guitar is much brighter and without much low-end, but it gets drowned out when using more modern EQ styles where the guitars have much more low-end. It definitely needs a better mid sweep though.
@StillLivinginthewoods7 жыл бұрын
The pre sounds ok, but the "scrambler" sounds terrible.
@joelthomas61477 жыл бұрын
Sound bad ?
@TheMills5677 жыл бұрын
Interestingly, it sounds WAAYYY better live. I have one, and I am not trying to "justify" my purchase. I will sell a piece of gear in a heartbeat if I don't like it. But this thing sounds great . I don't love over saturating with it, but a nice growly fuzzy-ish tone is easy to be had. A tad bit of grit and blend and it kills. My Fender J needs to really cook it before it works well, but my active basses make this thing sing. IMHO

1st you need some compression feature... 2nd you need someone who can actually play the bass..sorry Dino... 3rd the distortion not that good...

I think better Ampeg resurrected Ampeg SVPCL Bass Preamplifier made in USA. Nobody would want in studio to have made in China crap!
