SWFL Eagles_ Summer Visit To The Nest Tree & Pasture 08.23.23

This is my first visit to the nest area since E22 was last seen in June. The nest tree pasture and west pasture have been mowed and unwanted remnants remaining from the Hurricane last September have been cleaned up. I did not see M15 but I am sure he is not far away and remains in his territory keeping watch over it. The adult female that has been seen in the nest tree and pasture trees over the summer flew into the nest before sunrise, watched the area and then perched in the attic. She appears to be just matured (5 years of age) with only a few darker feathers remaining on her head & has no visible injuries to her feet or talons. Whether she was looking for M15 or just using the tall nest tree as a sentry/lookout spot to watch for other activity I do not know. She vocalized a few times and occasionally tracked activity in the distance. It is not mating or nesting season for our FL eagles yet so we shall see what happens over the next month. M15 is the 'boss' and we are just observers.
E21 was last seen April 29th & E22 was last seen June 10th. Harriet was last seen February 2nd. "I love you Mom" and miss you terribly.

M-15 was photographed in the nest and tree with her last night. They were moving sticks and were perched on the tree at sunset.

What would we do without your comforting voice Vicki, keeping us informed of Our Eagle Family 🙏🏻🙀❤️. Thank you for all you do. I can feel the love you have for our eagle family in your voice. Thank you, Vicki! I have been wondering how you were doing. It was a tough season. But we were blessed that Harriet and M15's last 2 eaglets, E21 & E22, grew to be healthy and strong. Also, they learned a lot of extra Being an Eagle lessons! 🦅 Had to learn fast, at times. With the help of Dad, Mighty M15. Sure hope he is having a good rest. The new female is a very nice looking eagle. If this is M's new mate, hope she is as good a Mom as dear Harriet was.♥ M. will show her how things are done at his nest. Just like Harriet showed him! She is probably just the first of several eagles to try to attract M15's attention. She has very big talons to fill. He will have his choice of mates. It won't be easy replacing Harriet. He was an heroic single parent. Vicki, thanks for making this early morning trip and keeping us informed.

Thankyou so much Vicki, beautiful filming and wonderful commentary. I am certain that this beautiful lady is the one who arrived in the upper branches in early march and refused to leave. M seemed to trust her, he let her roost there and they went out hunting together, every morning regular as clockwork. Yes, she stole some food from the Es, but m did the same to harriets eaglet when he first met her, so thats no big deal. She helped M teach the kids that they cannot leave food unattended. M never seemed to be concerned when she came near the nest. Since the Es went on their journey, she had been seen perched with M on the cell tower, and she has been seen at Yonder pond. She always seemed to be watchful of the nest area. I have just seen photos taken august 23 of M returning to nest. Lady is with him. I think they have chosen each other. Amazing news. M is an outstanding eagle, he was always going to return, he enjoys being a dad too much not to come back to his home. Can't wait for your next updates, Vicki. thanks so much.

She is beautiful clean no scars on her feet. M15 will be back this is his home. He is getting r&r and will be back looking magnificent and healthy. Our beautiful M15. We miss you Harriet and the babies but we know M needs a new mate. If he picks her I will I will love her too or whoever he chooses. She is big and beautiful and never bothered the babies when they were juvies!❤
