Original Swiss K05/11 made in W+F Bern in 1907 as a K05. Updated to K11 pattern in 1920. Finally sold out of service in 1962. It is chambered for 7.5x55mm Swiss.

My dad had one of these, it's a bit of an oddity though. I don't know if they made these in .308 or if this one was converted but sure enough it takes standard .308 rounds and has .308 stamped in the receiver. He never actually knew what it was, he got it from his grandpa who described it as a "Springfield with a Mauser bolt." Thing is incredibly accurate, if you miss the target it's 100% your fault because the thing is dead on. Update: Thanks to this video I finally had a model to go off of and found out a company imported and sporterized/Americanized these guns back in the 50s and 60s. They bored out the barrels and modified the guns for .308.

Was about to tell you there was a sports version made in the 50s for the Swiss shooting competitions. Which took 308. There is also some Enfield that were exports prior to ww1 in 30 06. And even Winchester rifles American made for export to the russian empire chambered in 7.62x54r See the serial number on the rifle and trace where it came from, and lot that's how you find the true history of the rifle.

@@30calxbastard25 they weren't exactly milsur for the US, most were all export or limited production. Some of these rare guns are actually common in other countries, for example the Winchester lever actions in 7.62x54r are in russian armory and museums.
@Robert53area
@Robert53area 2 жыл бұрын
@@30calxbastard25 you can also blame biden for the lack of ammo, he an attempt to prevent new gun buyers, because their bill failed to pass in 2021, he banned russian ammo. Russia was the top producer of everything from 9mm ammo all the way up to .308 and 30-06. Tula and wolf were the biggest ammo imported into the US.

Many years ago, we were invited to a depredation hunt in Wyoming. The Rancher had been authorized by the State to thin the Antelope herd on his place because they were ruining the haystacks used for cattle feed. He invited people to bring their non-standard weapons. One gentleman in the group had a Swiss straight pull in 7.5x55. It was an effective rifle for Antelope, but on the target range after the hunt, I couldn't get used to that straight pull action.

@@isaburger1012 It’s not a linear list. More like groups or tiers. Only focusing on single things tends to get expensive and leads to missed opportunities. The Swiss K05/11 is a variant of the Model 00/11 carbine, which was a conversion of the earlier Model 1900 and Model 1905 carbines. The K05/11 has a serial number that starts with 20000, while the K00/11 has a serial number that starts with 1. Both models have a 23.5 inch barrel, a fluted chamber, and a notch for a metal stripper clip. They fire the 7.5x55mm Swiss cartridge and have a straight-pull bolt action. The K05/11 was used by the Swiss Army until the 1950s. Some additional information or questions are: The K05/11 is also known as the Kurzgewehr 05/11, which means “short rifle” in German. The metal stripper clip was a new feature that allowed faster loading of the magazine, but it was very rare and hard to find. The K05/11 was one of the last models of the 1911 series of rifles and carbines, which were replaced by the K31 series in the 1930s.
