Comparing the TX films, THICC, and Deskeys films only have subtle sound differences and it was hard for me to tell most of the time which is which. Easier for me to tell which is kebo sometimes but not all the time. Its awesome that you did a blind test. A lot of the sound tests I heard that didn't have a blind test so I was trapped into bias and confirmation. Thank you for this

My blind favorite was the TX, followed closely by Thicc Great idea with kbcompare! It would be awesome to see functionality expanded in the future to include a searchable archive of sound tests with information like switches, boards, keycaps, modifications, lubes, and films. That way the community could build up a repository of sound test to help inform buying decisions and/or keeb sound porn haha

Thanks for the suggestion! it's tricky making useful sound test on YT videos, I think a much better model is something like kbcompare.com, where you can rapidly go back and forth between the different options at your own pace. Great video. And the kbcompare is a fantastic concept; Testing and comparing without knowing what you're hearing is a great way to know what you really like without biases. I could constantly tell which one was my favorite, and my goto film from now on will be the Deskeys film. I still have some TXfilms left, but every time I tested it was the worst sounding one for me. Well, it is still way better than nothing(especially on JWK switches).

Did u notice a difference regarding the typing experience/ feel? I own a rama koyu (integrated Plate) w/ 62g Sakurios and the TX films made the overall typing extremely (even more) stiff - where the Kebos which iam using rn are perfect. Never used Thicc or Deskkeys tho.
@keybonbon
@keybonbon 4 жыл бұрын
I didn't really notice a significant feel difference between the four, but it would make sense that thicc and TX would be the "stiffest" while Kebo and Deskeys have more wiggle room (kebo because it's thin, and deskeys because it's very flexible). I think you'd like Deskeys

I'm unclear on which switches benefit most from adding films? I know everyone says to add them to linear switches but do they also benefit tactile and clicky switches? Are there some that one shouldn't add films too? Like would they benefit Jades or Navys? Or Browns?
@keybonbon
@keybonbon 4 жыл бұрын
It’ll all come down to whether or not the switch has housing wobble (meaning the top and bottom housings move around when you hit the switch). That movement produces an unpleasant crunch, similar to a soft click. I film pretty much all linears and tactiles except those that don’t fit them (such as creams or holy pandas). As for clicky ive never thought to film them since the click noise overpowers any noise coming from housing wobble

Interesting! That might have to do with ease of installation as the shiny part will have more friction with whatever it’s touching, but there should be no difference in sound / feel as far as I know. I’ll do some digging :)
