Just to say this is still super helpful and relevant. I bought this chainsaw and probably would have struggled without this video but now I am up and running it is exactly as richard described. Thanks mate.

Great saw. I have one of the original ones too - near to 10 years old and still going strong.

On my third season with a SX82 of firewood collecting, mine paid for itself in the first trailer and ute load I used it on. I also bought the 7 in 1 whipper snipper which has more grunt than a piggery! Great review Richo 👍🏼

Nice review, perfectly sums up what these are good for. I bought my original SX62 about 7 or 8 years ago when they were first offered online. It's seen plenty of use and still runs fine today. Like you, I'm getting another to take its place as main saw, and keep the older one as a backup. Keep up the good stuff!

I need to look into getting a chainsaw to start milling my own lumber. This looks pretty good for the price!

G'day Fred. I originally bought my 1st one of these saws 4 years ago after reading good things about them from the 4wd boys on Aussie forums. They were buying them as cheap saws for camping and trail clearing. I have since discovered that they are a decent copy of a komatsu zenoah saw. Although my 4yo one still runs and cuts fine I bought another (a mk111) a couple months back as a backup. I think you'll be really happy using one in a mill rig. Be sure to buy a genuine Oregon chain for it as the stockers are a bit average. Cheers.

I have two SX62's. Paid $113 for the first and $76 for the second, including post, new in the box. Made a mistake with the first one doing vertical cuts in a tree stump and obstructed the exhaust outlet with the stump. Never obstruct a two stroke engine's exhaust. Engine overheated, seized then lost all compression. However Edisons had the parts to repair the engine, new hard chrome plated bore one piece cylinder and head unit, piston with rings, gudgeon pin, needle roller race small end bearing and two fiercely strong circlips, cylinder to crankcase and crankcase half gaskets. Didn't need the latter. $46 delivered. Only problem copying someone else's design is to avoid copying their mistakes. Circlip grooves too shallow in the piston and when Stihl or Husqvarna (whoever the Chinese copied) had some come out in service I'd guess they increased the circlip wire size. Should have made the groove deeper. I made a simple holding mandrel for my Lathe and ground a grooving tool then machined the grooves deeper so they are NEVER going to come out. Rebuilt the engine and it started within four pulls and ran perfectly and has done ever since. Use them for sawing hardwood up to 20" dia. Chainbar oil tank tends to leak in storage so I just empty it out after use into an old pickle jar then for next use pour it back in and top up the tank. On the strength of the SX62's being so good bought an SX38 for cutting small stuff and it's just as good as the SX62's but lighter to handle.

I just bought the 52cc. It was dirt cheap so I'll see how it goes. I've a small log heater and I've been using an electric chainsaw. So if a cheap Bunnings chainsaw can do it I'm sure this one can too.

Wel done Richo , good honest review of a Chinese product that is hard to gauge the value of because it is made in a socialist country. Obviously the quality has improved as China has entered the competition market of Western democracies .

I just bought a new MK3 SX62 for $120 delivered from Edisons on ebay . I have 2 old SX62s which are 5 years old and cut around 20 to 30 ute loads of fire wood a year . One has just done the clutch after cutting up huge trees which have fallen over my fences in the Drake NSW bush fires a few weeks ago . It costs $20 for a new clutch . I also have a Sthil which has shit itself but these el-cheapo SX62 saws have paid for themselves many times over .To buy a ute load of fire wood coats between $120 to $150...

is the chain saw for comerical use cutting several trees per week and cuting them in to logs will the saw hold up
@richardbowdler21515 жыл бұрын
Hello Tim. The short answer is no, these are not commercial grade saws. However if you wanted a cheap commercial solution then I'd suggest buying 3 of these for 1/2 the price of one equivalent stihl or husky. Put Oregon chains on them and rotate them out every 2 tanks of fuel to let them cool down. I do exactly that with 2 saws when I'm up the bush getting into big lumps of hardwood... plus it's always good insurance to have a backup saw on hand. Cheers.

Was the small round plastic piece supplied in the tool bag a spare part as you suspected.?
@aeroearth5 жыл бұрын
Yes, its the worm drive gear for the chain bar oil pump. Fits on the mainshaft behind the centrifugal clutch. Made from glass filled nylon so its a very tough material.

Just bought one of these and it's absolutely gutless. No power and bogs down when trying to cut big stuff. can I get a bigger carb or something?
@chrisjoyce63213 жыл бұрын
Tune up perhaps. I have just thrashed the 52cc model (new) cleaning up storm damage on massive trees (>20 inch diameter) all weekend. Exceeded all expectations and was a good as two stihls I used two weeks ago ... Whether it lasts like a Stihl remains to be seen.

Plenty of power but the air filter system is absolute rubbish. Can’t stop fines sucking straight into the carbi. Mine lasted about 2.5 years so definitely worth the the money. Next time I would get the sx75 with the better air filter system

All primer bowls are is an extra 2 fuel lines and a plunger that will perish an need replacing after a while. They are better without them imo.

I bought the 62cc from Edison’s came faulty , so far they have been one of the worst companies I have ever tried to deal with . Wish I never bought it , a cheap ms170 would have been much better.
