Sylvia Jane Hutton (née Kirby, born December 9, 1956), known professionally by her first name Sylvia during the 1980s, is an American country music and country pop singer and songwriter. Her biggest hit, a crossover chart topper, was her single "Nobody" in 1982. It reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 5 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, number 9 on the Cashbox Top 100, and number 1 on the Billboard Country Singles chart. The song earned her a gold record certification and a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Her other country chart hits include "Drifter" (number 1 in 1981), "Fallin' in Love", "Tumbleweed" and "Snapshot". She was named Female Vocalist of the Year by the Academy of Country Music for 1982. She is also credited with making the first "concept" music video clip to air on Country Music Television (CMT), with "The Matador".

“Nobody" is a song written by Kye Fleming and Dennis Morgan, and recorded by American country music artist Sylvia. It was released in June 1982 as the second single from the album Just Sylvia.

I was a young teenage girl back then. My memories of those days are great, as well. In fact, I was 13 years old during most of the summer of 1982, and I turned 14 that August. This song brings back great memories. Oh, only if time travel was possible! I'd go back to the 80's in a heartbeat!

Cute song. VERY circa early 80's in sound. I love it. Like the "Country" vibe. Love to see SHANIA TWAIN or even Miley Cyrus cover this- would be an INSTANT hit. PS SYLVIA Is subjectively and objectively GEORGEOUS.

i grow up with that beautiful country pop song i heard every week by week then time 1982 on american country countdown by bob kingsley from american forces radio in Athens (glyfada) ive never forget in my life that magic years,full of that beautiful songs,like Sylvias Nobody.

This performance was obviously being professionally recorded and the audience was no doubt aware of that. It wouldn't surprise me if they were asked to cooperate with the recording by keeping their reaction muted. It may not have even been the only "take" of the song. They may have already seen her do it ten times.

Yeah, I was surprised that this was considered a ‘country’ song and one of the first crossover hits when I looked it up. Now, if I imagine Randy Travis or George Straight singing this song with a more traditional arrangement (no synths) and yeah, I can see it sounding ‘country’ 😉

This was filmed at the Grand Ole Opry house in Nashville. At 0:50 she notices the camera on her right is currently capturing her ( green light on) she starts performing for the camera and in turn the camera man starts zooming it.. Love it. Living in Nashville while working with artists at CMT I got to hang and talk with her some. Sweet, down to earth lady.

Darrell Anderson he left me in the hospital fighting for my life had me served with divorce papers on the day id have a year and a half to 2 if surgery was done well they couldnt do it when he left home i only found out when property management called abt the keys within 24 the hours of admittance hed moved in with the nothing
