Her biggest hit, a crossover chart topper, was her single "Nobody" in 1982. It reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 5 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, number 9 on the Cashbox Top 100, and number 1 on the Billboard Country Singles chart. The song earned her a gold record certification and a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Her other country chart hits include "Drifter" (number 1 in 1981), "Fallin' in Love", "Tumbleweed" and "Snapshot". She was named Female Vocalist of the Year by the Academy of Country Music for 1982. I was a young teenage girl back then. My memories of those days are great, as well. In fact, I was 13 years old during most of the summer of 1982, and I turned 14 that August. This song brings back great memories. Oh, only if time travel was possible! I'd go back to the 80's in a heartbeat!

This performance was obviously being professionally recorded and the audience was no doubt aware of that. It wouldn't surprise me if they were asked to cooperate with the recording by keeping their reaction muted. It may not have even been the only "take" of the song. They may have already seen her do it ten times.
