Something I really loved about toshiro's awakening is him stabbing his shadow. The scar on his hand is on the same hand he stabbed his shadow on showing that even if it put him thru pain he chooses to go thru it again and he's done hiding it. Also his mask having the opposite eye of Eri covered up with his mask is a really amazing piece of symbolism that makes me wish they let him have that mask for longer than the one shot like that's such a cool mask but they hardly use it.

I will say, after Ernesto’s awakening, I never thought ‘Shadow’ Toshiro was an actual Shadow, just another of Salmael’s puppets. Every other version of this awakening (P4 and Futaba) involves accepting and recognising what the Shadow represents is still you, whether it’s Kanji’s worries about his masculinity, Naoto’s gender identity and how it effects her work, or Futaba accepting that the ‘suicide’ of her mother wasn’t actually her fault and instead blamed her as a scapegoat to divert suspicion. Toshiro never agrees with his Shadow that Eri’s ideals were wrong, or that the pain (Both emotional and physical) was her fault. He never embraced the ‘Shadow’ and didn’t need to to get his Persona because it was never actually how he felt, simply what Salmael wanted him to feel. If anything Erina is the closest thing to Shadow Toshiro, reshaped due to his vision of Eri and the harsh situation Salmael forced onto his mind and soul. The old Toshiro could never fight back to keep control but subconsciously he knew who could. Then again I may be completely off the ball and spouting absolute BS, so sorry if I’m being stupid…

I did not expect the story to go so deep. I was blown away by the end and this analysis totally helped. Thanks!!

Awesome video but I’m surprised you didn’t mention the DLC. As it highlights that Geuenicas power to bring the emotions of a persons heart is likely what have both to Erina within his heart. This ability of course is how she knew what Arsenal’s looked like as she was able to see Jokers heart as well. Conversely, Arsenal being trapped also reflects Jokers own heart as a parallel to his velvet room which is a cell. I also believe the train is a result of Jokers will. This game also reflects lavenza’s own words at the end of Royal that Joker would inspire others to take up arms for their own beliefs. Also should note that Salmael is conceptually the reverse of Erebus - a will for self preservation as opposed to a will for self destruction.

I believe there should be some symbolism found within the voice actors. The japanese ones specifically. Erina has the same Japanese VA as Mash Kyrielight from FGO. Mash has a sheild as her main "weapon" and is the main protector for the player character. And up until just before the Shadow Toshio encounter, both the metaverse one, and the real world equivalent(when Eri was pushed and injured), both Erina and her real world counterpart, Eri, act as some sort of sheild for Toshiro during the events. In short, a different games best Kohai makes a sort of tiny reference in P5T. This VA thing is either a lucky coincidence (which i honestly doubt), or was picked for the symbolic reason i stated before, or possibly some other reason. No matter the reason, i believe choosing Rie Takahashi was a good choice. (I hope to god i spelt her last name right) (Edit) The names of the missions on your way to the final boss (gear god man, i already forgot his name), spells Asylum. Which can possibly symbolise how Toshiro, just like Joker, is held as a sort of Prisoner to society. And with Toshiro not changing clothes, despite all p5 related persona users having costumes, can mean something similar to what the entire game is. Ernesto is the soldier. Toshiro is the tactician. Tactician's need no battle Attire. You could throw out "then why does Futaba have a PT outfit, when she doesn't fight like the rest of the PT group?" I can answer that as; Necronomicon has the ability to attack (shown by the bomb on Futaba's AoA finisher), but chooses to go with navigation, to fit with what Futaba does best. And the costumes also reflect the users heart, in some way (makoto is a loose one, but then is justified by her perosna being a bike), which can mean that Toshiro, after awakening, saw himself as the perfect form of a "Rebel" or, in his case specifically, a "savior". Which can be extended further (this next bit is quite the stretch, but bear with me). Him not changing clothes, and being in his suit can mean that heroes, or rebels, or whoever, can look just as normal as everyone else. Further strengthening the 4th meaning behind the existence of the clothes changing in the metaverse. (To my knowledge, there are 4, maybe 5 reasons for changing clothes. 1, to show the heart of a rebel. 2, the whole mask thing. 3, hidden until a threat < 3 leads to 4>, and 4, that they're hidden among the masses they hope to change. I don't know if it's just me, but Erina appearing in the Kingdom where Marie, the fiancée, is the ruler might mean that Toshiro had feelings for Eri, or that she was his true love.
