I wonder whether the 10-second rule and the 5-EPH rule might have something to do with 80% being undiagnosed. It took 3 sleep studies to get my diagnosis. After the first two, I was told flat out "you do not have Sleep Apnea". So, I guess, trust your doctor, but only so much. Do your own research and come equipped to your appointments. As Reagan said, "Trust, but verify".

I often wake up with very dry mouth and my doctor told me this was a symptom of sleep apnea. It doesn't happen every night but almost almost always when I wake up sleeping on my back and my head in a unusual position. Any comments please.

Hi Lenny, Dry mouth is a common symptom of sleep apnea. We'd recommend discussing this further with your doctor and ask them about whether a sleep test might be right for you. Thanks.
