Very nice build sir! I'm planning on an OB with those GRS woofers but 2x15 inch per side, and a Lii Song Fast 8 widerange. Thanks for sharing this video!

I hear the Lii Song's are nice. The GRS upper bass range is pretty strong. Crossing them over below 200Hz could help, even with the 15". I'm still planning on a total rebuild on the crossovers on mine. Maybe a 3-way/2.5 way approach. The tweaking continues.

@@DonnieMulligan Yes I read your advice. I plan to crossover as low as possible. 200/250 Hz if the Lii Song's can manage. I'll keep an eye on your tweaking. My build will not be anywhere soon, should be a winter project. 🙂

Thanks for the video. Have you tried possibly crossing the lower woofer at a lower frequency, about 80 hz and down? This makes it a 2.5 way and should make the upper driver blend better with the planar driver. It makes the acoustic centers closer together at the high pass crossover.

Thanks! I did try that. Did not make much improvement in the low midrange. Not enough to justify buying two more large inductors. If money was not an issue, I think a band pass on the middle driver for a 3-way design could be an interesting experiment. Future tweaking continues.

Very handsome T.o.a.Hs! What frequency did you choose to roll off between the woofers & planar?

@@DonnieMulligan Awesome. And the planar doesn't complain too much about playing that low? 😊

The planars handle it well. The GRS drivers don't sound great playing that high. I wish I could have crossed them closer to 200Hz. Thinking about turning them into a 2.5 way system to help smooth out the midrange.

@@DonnieMulligan I would substitute one of the following for the satellite: FaitalPRO 3FE22, GR Research LGK, or Tang Band W4-1879. Much easier to integrate with the woofers, all work well open baffle, and you can crossover as low as you want (down to 100 if desired, though I would do it between 200 and 350)

Do you think a tube amp would fix the hot high end?
@DonnieMulligan

I think a tube amp could drive them. They do have high sensitivity. A more realistic fix is a complete crossover redo. I'll try a 2.5 way or 3 way and hopefully dial thinks in better. The tweaking continues.
