Excellent tutorial! Thanks for sharing. I made a simple clamp on style router table that clamps to my workbench last year. I used it to make some shaker style doors - absolutely fantastic! Initially, I was using my cordless Makita trim router, but as it worked so well, I purchased one of Katzu 'knockoff' models which now lives in the table. I can also report that the dust extraction in this mode works extremely well, particularly as the tool is inverted, and most of the dust ends up in the cyclone! Nevertheless, I might just have a go at your nifty number as it might just save space, and, hey, it's always fun to add functionality to existing tools.

@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 4 ай бұрын
@@robertmessham4814 so you need screws that hold the router to the table? I no longer have this extension as I made a full boxed up version of this. Just measure the thickness of your current base plate screws from the router with callipers. Then the length will be tad longer than the thickness of the table top material. That's all. With those dimensions just pop to your local DIY store and get bolts/ screws that will fit your dimensions.

Hi Tomasz, I was intending to do precisely the same thing very soon for my Rage5-S so you’ve saved me a useful amount of design thinking. Many thanks. Using the principle of a drop-in filler plate as you’v made, other tools can be dropped in in a similar manner. I’m planning an inverted jigsaw with a blade guide for the tip of the blade having seen stand-alone versions on KZfaq. I don’t have a bandsaw or the space or funds for a decent sized one. Damned ! This is the future evolution for my saw. This is even more awesome for small workshops like mine. Can't wait for the full module. Just one thing : I think the katsu router is fine for finishing pieces but not for hard work like dovetails or grooves. It needs more torque imho.
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 2 жыл бұрын
I would say that's true about the katsu router but I have tackled many projects with it that in theory is not designed to do. But it tackled them flawlessly. Version 2 will be with a router lift for a plunge router that is much more powerful. But I think I will make 3 different types of lifts. Two for a plunge router but using different materials ( cheaper and more expensive ones) and a third version for the trimmer router.

Although I was exchanging my work flow with a friend that also has the Rage 5S and his dimensions were slightly different to mine. Which may be a problem for making plans as they may not be accurate for everyone. If I end up making the plans they will be for free on my website.
