I stayed with the video so you know you and Decker are not alone. You are being heard. Thanks for opening up, and your welcome for sticking it out. What are Virtual Friends for? It sure isn't helping move!!! LOL

That's a tough place to be for a young man in his forming years. Thank you for sharing this, Jim. It shows you care a lot about the community you are a part of. That same community cares a lot about you and yours, as well (judging by the comments). You and your family are in my prayers. "Peace, and long life." (that's right: I typed it...)

Family always comes first. I was bullied all thru middle school by this 1 kid. When I got to high school, I joined the wrestling team. Guess who showed up. The bully. He made sure I was his partner, so he could abuse me every day. Week 2 came along, and the bully didn't come back. I feel you sons pain and I hope he doesn't give up on what he enjoys

I'm sorry to hear this. Good luck with the whole situation. I've never had any tolerance for bullies and have had to stand up for so many other people that it still amazes me how common bullying is.

Life and health always come first. The videos will come when they come, we'll be here. You seem like an amazing dad, and as someone who was never close with his father, I envy that. Also, you said you hate having to resort to him taking medicine, but look at it this way: if he broke his leg, you wouldn't be "resorting" to stitches and a cast, that's just how you treat the issue! I've been on anxiety meds for years, and it really helps. Hope his situation and tours both improve. =)

My daughters a little younger but last year she was bullied at school, and she also suffered from anxiety as a result. It was hard, and at times I felt like I was letting her down because I couldn't fix it. Like you said with how the schools are now and how dealing with bullies is different for them to when we were kid's, she was scared to and wouldn't fight back. There were times when the situation made me feel totally useless as a parent but we managed to get her moved, which at the time felt like we'd lost to the bullies. A year later my girl is back to her old self and moving her was the right decision. I hope the change of scenery has the same effect on you and your boy as it did us.

Hi Jim... long time since One Kit Wonders. :) My thoughts? Find a good Gracie Jiu Jitsu school. Talk to the teachers there. See what they offer. I'm not suggesting fighting or violence.... but a good BJJ school is a great skill-builder and confidence booster. They have an awesome "Bullyproof" program that you might like.

Best of luck to your son. Sound like he's gutsy and not afraid of hard work, though I know from experience that everyone has their limits to bullying. I can't imagine what you & your wife are going through, and I hope the situation improves quickly for you all.

Jim my son was bullied so much a couple of years ago that even though we tried to help he went to a teacher and told them he was contemplating suicide. Luckily we were able to get him the help he needed and everything is doing well now. So I know where you are coming from, take as much time as you need to get everything good with your son and yourself, I will always be here when you get back. Take care of your family and let them know that my family is praying for all of you.

I'm sorry, man. I can't empathise with you as a parent, but I can empathise with your son. I had a hell of a time when I went to a new secondary school where I knew nobody. I'm glad you're able to support your son and that he won't have to put up with the crap he has had to. It must be just horribly stressful for you all and I hope it's over soon and he and the rest of you can make a fresh start.

Schools were kind of awful even in the '90s, but now they really seem to be something out of a nightmare: part prison, part re-education camp, part red light district. And on top of that, todays kids are growing up in a society that's part 1984, part Brave New World, and part That Hideous Strength. And I'm afraid the Internet has been turned into a terrible weapon against them. If you haven't already done so, please consider homeschooling. No teacher or "expert" is going to care about your kids as much as you do. Frankly, I don't think there's too many people you can trust with their education these days. There are lots of resources online to help you out with it, too. Your whole family is in our prayers, Jim. God bless.

Jim. Take care of yourself and your loved ones. Please let Decker know that, even though we've never met, he has a fellow nerd standing shoulder to shoulder with him. Also, check out the lyrics to "I am (I'm Me)" by Twisted Sister.

My heart goes out to your son, buddy...I was jock and nerd, but too dam big to be the victim of bullies. School should be much my aggressive than just not asking them back...not doing bully any good letting him avoid the consequences of his action by protecting his person...Trolling and anonymous venting online seems to be manifesting itself physically now and that is very sad statement about our culture...your family is in our prayers...Jim

I was your son in school. Listen to him, let him know that you are listening to him, believe him, love him, and be his mentor. Those are the things that you must do. You are doing that. You are doing a great job. He needs to know that you are on his team. You and your son need to speak regularly. He needs to know that he is important . He is not the odd ball. Show him the "jocks" that are into these things too. Marshawn Lynch, Terry Crews, etc. I am a hot head too. I would support him to punch that kid too.
