seismics were not brought down from "6 to 4" shots, they were extremely nerfed from 24 to 8(+2 weakend lascanons) shots... its an absurd nerf that is beyond any reason. you have to take 2 mining lasers now, so you always want to split fire or get extremely screwed on your profiles.

This. Losing the two shots per cannon when you can only take 2 is rubbish, and losing perfect ambush makes it even harder

You could technically take the Heavy Stubbers instead of the Mining Lasers. In fact, I would even go so far as to say that with the nerfed profile, even if we could still take 4 of the same weapon, I would probably pick Heavy Stubbers for anti-infantry instead of Seismic Cannons. 6 shots instead of 4, with BS4+ instead of 5+, at 18" range rather than 12". Just seems better for anti-infantry.

Seismic cannons loosing the 2 shots is honestly BS. You can't have 4 in the unit. So you're not just loosing 4 shots in 2 guns you're loosing 16 shots.

@@xavierwtrockgrinders are already fire deck 6, the whole thing with the truck was that it had more space on top . That is the purpose of the unit.

You failed to mention the other nerf Aberrants got, their offensive output got trashed as well. That is what put it over the top for me, nerfing either their survivability or their damage output might have been workable - but both? No thanks, back to the shelf, better luck in 11th. The Rockgrinder change sucks as well. If there is one model that deserves to have impact hits, surely its the rockgrinder...

Both hits are pretty rough but we do need to see their points though, they can absolutely still be viable if they are costed appropriately, kind of feels like that for most things in this new book

@@reedster222 it's a completely different unit though. From elite killer to regular marine killer. Went from something deeply needed to meh. Even if that is something you want in your army the amount of point cuts needed to compensate is so ridiculous thats it's highly unlikely we'll get them until a couple of datasleets have passed by.

@@chra87 Very true, my biggest concern is that points don't drop nearly enough, for awhile... and I do agree, realistically the feel no pain deserved to go to a 5+ but the melee didn't need to be hit that hard and all the STR drops for the army are gonna make dealing with heavies a big problem for GSC. One that really bothers me is the mining weapons on Aco's getting halved and only getting anti Vehicle 4+ as a compensation... With all that said thou I am trying to remain hopeful and positive for the points and we'll go from there.

This is JUST sad. As a Tyranid player I am so sad for my cultist friends.. I am where you are now. and my hopes of getting out of where I am are drastically shrinking with this coming out as it did.

I came back to 40k after years away at the start of 10th, chose nids and then moved to GSC when it became apparent they weren't getting any help. And now we're here, and I'm mostly likely done with 10th edition now.

@@boolean6532 Nids will get help the upcoming update or the one after, I can basically guarantee you as much. Not saying that the way things have been are in any way acceptable, but Nids are getting trashed with the action changes (which to be frank was the only thing that kept them competitive at the top end).

@@theStamax That would make sense, but it involves GW being even remotely competent. Admech have been in an even worse state since their codex release and their rework is still "coming soon" a year later. Dark angels were also ruined by their codex and they haven't even announced a rework.

@@boolean6532 It's not technically a year later and it's coming exactly when it should be coming by their own plans, aka the balance dataslate after. The first one was too close to release, which I personally find stupid, but at least there's some hope now. Dark Angels of course have the usual space marine problem of "there's actually one specific good list using 1-2 units from the divergent chapter". So I don't see them getting anything anytime soon. It's not very comparable to Nids. Now, of course there's a not insignificant chance that they'll initially try to fix them via point cuts (and frankly I think that's what they'll do), but even that will be major help for all the Tyranid players who didn't use their bs scoring. So it'll 100% get better for those players at least in the short run. Long term I do of course hope that they'll get major reworks (likely the balance dataslate after the upcoming one or the one after if they'll happen).

This army is losing a lot of identity. The guerrilla approach is what made it different to say, a Tyranid horde, where its a huge show of force. Being unable to set fear in the opponent by springing out of the dark with scary oneshot damage just makes us a bit plain.

The biggest nerf was identity. We went from guerilla to attrition and for anyone who painted their squads of 20 neophytes to match their weapon profiles like I did just got a serious kick in the teeth because the paint scheme and army comp i just finished now makes zero sense. The only way they were truly successful is making you have to rebuild your army. Here's to hoping for points cost to make sense.

Biosantic is the detachment with my greatest interest. I loved messing around with muscle beach with the index. That is not a lot worse but there might be legs to it still. Xenocreed does have the best rules and seems to support the aspects we are strongest at. Squads hiding and then moving a surprising speeds to attack forward moving enemies. Brood brothers might be very good for meta reasons. Gsc does not have a lot of good answers to hard targets and the needs to Aberrants and demo charges compound that problem. Taking a couple a leman Russ tanks or a shadow sword to go with ridgerunners might be one of our most consistent answers to a greater demon.

Wow. The Kelemorph lose both Precision, Sustained Hit D3 on his gun and the ability to pop at 3" of the enemy if there's a battleline unit near in exchange of -2 PA (useless, because he doesn't has précision anymore). He wasn't even strong before, now it's utter crap

He’s actually great because now he gets to shoot people that move within 12 of him AND move 6 afterwards. Three of them will be amazing at harassing people and destroying your opponents objective units

The rules are really fun, and I'm cool with the datasheet nerfs but we're going to need *significant* points cuts Only thing that truly bothers me is the change to return to the shadows. The strat isn't only not that great now, but the entire game mechanic for the index detachment has been removed

You have missed a trick with the Benefictus and to 10 neos and put them in a truck then add the enhancement to get +1 to hit while using the firing deck. Now he has 2 shots hitting on 2s, any failed hazardous goes on the truck. Then 10 Neos shoot get lethal on all of their shots. Duplicate this with the enhancement where you get plus 1 to hit once you disembark. You suddenly have mobile, 20 lethal shots on 3s and 4 lascannon shots on 2s. Depending on points it could be a good shooty little unit.

The goliath truck now has firing deck 6 not firing deck 12. So unfortunately, you cannot achieve this.

@smthomas2000 I really hope so. I feel like the level of nerfing in this codex is excessive and irrational and I could totally see this change as being part of this process. I hope, however, GW does the right thing and erratas some of these rules changes into more fair rules.

I dont think it is a typo, but we can hope. They do not get Lethal hits though, because while the Benefictus is in the truck, his ability is deactivated. Neophytes can also take 2 of special and 2 heavy weapon per 10 model, but they can not be dublicates(so 10 models could take 1 Mining Laser, which as S10 now, not 12). You would need 20 models to get 2 Mining Lasers, and 20 cant fit into the Truck. The Benefictus is probably going to be around 80 pts, the truck is about 90 and the Neophytes might get a cost reduction(let us say they end up at 70 for 10). That is still 240 pts for the combo, not counting the Enhancement(probably 15-25 pts extra). A T9 Truck with 10 Wounds, with half decent shooting, at the same cost as a Landraider.

I take your point about the lethal inside the truck. However if both the truck and the Goliath are the same capacity then depending on the points and the troops get a boost rule with the truck, why would you bother with the truck? Goliath is tougher and has a better gun. Unless the gap is massive in points the greater protection must be the better option.

ya know i think i would perfer they make the goliath truck have a " no tank shock rule " to make it lose its best ablity and give it on that is just flat our worse, like we are not sturdy enough as GSC to bother falling back from so why bother

TLDR: I actually think Brood Brothers is going to be highly underrated, it has a lot going for it. Kasrkin with a cadian castellan with the +1 ap is insane. Most places are ruling they still benefit from their ability orders since it's not tied to their keyword. So you give their rapid fire +1, plasma with -3 ap regular or -4 on overcharge is a lot of punch, plus you can fire into combat to really hammer down big threats and that's all with sustained thanks to the castellan. Then you also have the 8 shots from the volley gun with ap -2 you're forcing a lot of saves and something is going to get through. You can also take the meltas so even a land raider in cover is saving on a 6+. Shooting into combat can also help you. Run up, throw a full squad of demolition charges (even nerfed they will still add up) then have a foward vehicle to cult ambus them right back into the frey to do it again. Also, what I think is the best guard tech is vanquishers and heavy weapons teams. 3x lascannon shots for 60 points help shore us GSCs big armor weakness. You can alsotake a vanquisher. A safe far back tank to cult ambush kasrkin back be it for late game secondary scoring or just another wave of value. Plus str 18 vanquisher with rerolls to wound natively can near guarentee your ability to take out whatever key centerpiece an enemy needs or will give you too much trouble. Oh, also kasrkin have to vox caster, which means now that you just reduce the cost of strats not gain cp you can take vox casters to gain cp every time you use any of the multiple good strats you have

Since the enhancement gives you lethal hits until the end of the next fight phase, that means the unit will have 2 turns of lethal hits. I think that's why they put that lol

you should definitly not unless only for astethic reasons. This army is now VERY weak and this product is terrible. Sadly these shows wont be honest with you, since they have to crawl into GW'S butt to get these reviews out early.

I’m just starting too mate. People forget that by the time you assemble and paint your models, things are different, and the game is just as much about the hobby aspect and the passion and just loving the models, as the competitive squash-all-other-armies-factor

But If you are making a financial decission to buy these to have fun playing with them, then you should honestly tell these people that the army with these rules right now is very very much not good right now, and you wont see much success with them. Unless your Buddy plays exlusively and exactly guard or maybe Knights.

It really wasn't though. It was neat when you could get it off but pre their point cut they were rarely if ever taken.

Grinding advance With tank shock Vs T9 or lower about 7MW Vs T10 or better about 5MW If you charged 5 spacemarines, you had a good chance at clearing the unit. Now you will be lucky too kill 3 models even with a tank shock.

@@sumOfItsPartsByJet i included the close combat of the tank as well for the 5 marines, its a direct comparison to the new version where it doesn't have impact hits built in, 8A->5hits->4wounds->2F saves and get about 3MW from tank shock so 3.5 dead marines, big difference too 70% certainty to pick up the squad.
