I visited a few months before this was uploaded. While many of the government buildings and some churches were all better, if you visit in the neighborhoods of people who aren't wealthy, there is still so much damage. I spoke to a man who works at the post office and he said that he was STILL trying to rebuild his home. With high levels of corruption, much of the money that came in didn't go to all the people. Still, a wonderful visit to Tacloban and Samar for me - wonderful people everywhere I went (Calbayog, Borongan, Guiuan)

I visited Tacloban in November, 2016, just a couple of weeks after this was published. I agree with Emilie's assessment. There has been enormous progress, but still much to be done. I found myself both grieving for the lost, and rejoicing with the living. I have never encountered a community more resilient, determined and hopeful. I was overwhelmed. Simply overwhelmed.
