2 c Instant beans (any kind) ¾ c Freeze dried ground beef 1/3 c freeze dried tomato powder 1/3 c dehydrated bell peppers 1 T Green chilies (optional) ¾ c freeze dried corn 2 T Taco seasoning 1 T Beef bouillon DIRECTIONS: 8 cups of water Add mixture Bring to a boil Simmer for 15-20 minutes Serve with sour cream and tortilla chips

Probably your most ‘unenlightened’ question ever…lol What are ‘instant’ beans? Beans that have previously been cooked and then freeze dried or dehydrated? Asking’ for a friend 😁

I would love to see some canned meals in a jar as freeze dried foods aren’t something I’m able to invest in at this time.

If you hav a pressure canner then pressure can what you cant dehydrate if you dont hav a dehydrater. If not, pressure can all ingredients in a qt?size Jar like you would a soup. . No flour ingredients.

I make Taco soup every time I slow cook a pork butt. Stew first day. Shredded pork bbq sandwiches. Then Taco Soup and freeze some for easy meals. I never thought to make a meal in a jar with freeze dried. Thanks for making this old brain think. ❤❤

If we were in a SHTF situation and needed to conserve fuel, could the contents be rehydrated without heat and then heated for a lesser time? I love all these meals in a jar ideas and hope you do many more of them. Thank you for helping us all.

Yes, if you let it just soak for 30 minutes to an hour, you would just need to heat. 💕🇺🇸

Hi there, long time subscriber but first time commenter. Love your channel and thank you for all you do! Would it be possible to create meals in a jar that do not include freeze dried products? They are too expensive for me so I'd love to be able to have sone alternatives. One meal that I do have is rice, chicken bouillon, almonds and dried cranberries (wrapped separately), then add a can of grilled chicken when cooking. TY

We just had your ham and pineapple casserole for dinner and we all L❤VED it! I had some leftover ham in the freezer, a can of Dollar Tree pineapple and some Aldi cream cheese, so our total cost was probably less than $3. Thanks for another great, easy meal idea! ❤🇺🇸

Last month I purchased Thrive seasoned chicken slices, red bell pepper, and pineapple on sale with the intent of creating a sweet and sour chicken in a jar. Problem is...I've never put together any meals in a jar, much less created my own recipe for a meal in a jar. I already have Thrive onion slices, powdered soy sauce, powdered ACV, and sugar. Perhaps pourable brown sugar crystals or honey crystals would be good also. I've also read xanthan gum is a good shelf stable thickener. I could see this coming together with two jars. One with the chicken and veg that would cook together and the sauce ingredients in a separate jar to add at the end. You asked for suggestions for meals in a jar. This would be mine.

What are instant beans just regular dry beans ???

Regular dry beans would take more than an hour to cook. You could make it with regular beans but it wont be a 15 to 20 min fast cook meal!!!! Maybe in a pressure cooker but would still be longer and more fuel used than a dehydrated/ freeze dried meal. Instant beans are precooked also then dehydrated.

@katietrapnell8498 It's the same principle as minute (or instant) rice. Cook it, then dehydrate or freeze dry it. Then you can rehydrate the beans in 15-20 minutes instead of a couple of hours.😊

Instant beans pre cooked and dried, so you can cook them up in minutes when you need them fast..
