Tacx Neo 2: amzn.to/37dLTOc
Here's your first look at the new Tacx Neo 2 Smart Trainer! It includes improved internals to add in pedal analysis, including left/right balance. As well it's got new electronics which Tacx says they'll add unnamed features based on down the road. In this video I dive into the power and cadence accuracy on my first ride, which is linked up to Zwift for a ride around Watopia. Not to mention I show you the sound/audio/silence aspects, plus a complete unboxing of the Neo 2, including installation of the cassette.

@@mlegrand Yeah, I love my lav mic when it works (like in the intro), but in this case the cable to my phone apparently got just lose enough to stop recording when I stuck it in my pocket. Happens about once a quarter. My shotgun mic is great, though even in this large warehouse space it would've struggled. Better than on-camera for sure, but not ideal with the echo.

I've purchased a Neo 2 smart trainer based on yours and Shane's reviews. Could have saved a few quid and brought the original Neo but I love new tech and interested to see the data from the pedal smoothness. I ride conventional rings through the winter and Q rings in the summer, should be good to see which i'm more efficient with. Keep up the good work!!

Keep up the good work! I’ve got one question. Does it pivot on the rear axle? My Neo 1 does not. If it does it could be a good indicator on a possible future release of a Tacx “climb” :) If not I believe this unit could be compared to kicker17 in a year or two when Neo 3 comes which is the one you need for connecting to the Tacx “climb”.

Hi, I understand that I can fit a 12*142 with the included adapter, but do you know if I can use the thru axle from my bike? I am a bit worried that the adapter might damage the frame. It looks like it would need to sit directly on the carbon part of the frame. I have a Venge with disc breaks.

Do I just do whatever I need to to try to stay at the target power output without going over or under by too much? Should I be trying to maintain a certain cadence while doing so? I am considering the neo for my first trainer but I am worried about the noise for the neighbor below, as I have to train very early in the morning when most people are sleeping... Anyone has any thoughts if this would be too noise as to bother the neighbor below (I would place an exercise mat under the trainer but still...) ?
@aforanti
@aforanti 5 жыл бұрын
The trainer is silent. But remember that vibration could be an issue, so I use thick rubber gymnasium floor tiles from my hardware depot. Most noise will come from your chain and cassette. So have good condition can and cassette and make sure it's clean and correctly lubed for the job. Make sure it's adjusted right too. If you want to go further, you could use a small wall of acoustic sound absorbing material near the drive train so it does not echo and amplify any noise.

How much of a difference does the sideway flexibility on the neo make? Does it add comfort (in the saddle) on long run indoor rides? That would -personally speaking - be that one argument, that would get me in the market for the Neo 🤔

Generally speaking with mountain bikes you've got less to worry about frame compatibility wise (since they aren't super tight like many TT/triathlon bikes and road bikes). Instead, you can mostly focus on whether your thru-axle system is compatible.

Hello, on all the tests that we find on the internet nobody tests the maximum power of the machine. Me on mine impossible to reach or exceed 1300 watts without it crashes. The Neo 1 is great except for cadence being all over the place. The Neo 2 works great except there is some issues that they are hopefully working on. Tacx know about the cadence issues and it calls for a longer pedal stem. Attaching something to your pedal so the sensor can reed it helps. The Bluetooth problems, for now, just switch off the unit after use. On the Neo 1 we don’t see any of the Neo 2 problems. Did they just cheap out?? Mmmm

Though, I was having battery drain issues, so the company actually just sent me another set that should arrive tomorrow. Hi Ray. Two questions: 1. Do you consider the neodymium magnet design of Neo/Neo2 as technologically more advanced than the belt design of virtually every other direct drive trainer? Side Q. Less moving parts means longer lasting, less to go wrong? 2. Is any other company coming up with similar technological innovation. We know about STAC Zero, but is anyone working on something similar to Neo/Neo2?
@Dcrainmaker
