I have done Tai Chi (Nanjing Integrated based on Yang Style) for over 20 years. Watching Master Mokurai this morning my practice shifted to a deeper level. Beautiful, gentle and lovingly powerful. Thank you.

The slower the better: deeper, richer experience.

I used to this in mix martial arts

This is correct speed of motion, the breath and projection of chi must be parallel to the movement.

Technically not the way I learned the yang form, but in the description you say "modified". Nevertheless for me it looks like the Tai Chi principles are followed amazingly good. Thumbs up!

I decided to time the long form in an hour. After several tries, I breeched 60 minutes that normally takes me less than 20. I’m not sure I benefited after 40 years of doing it a certain way, speed, and rhythm.

Yes...... doing it slowly improves breath capacity, patience, mindfulness, balance and concentration. Meditation states are more easily reached and speed, when desired, is enhanced. I am happy for you that you have opened a new window.

I wanna see it at combat speed - does it work??? is it functional????
@wendyclayton57094 жыл бұрын
Supposed to be slow and yes it is a form with applications
@Sammo2474 жыл бұрын
No. Wrong. Supposed to be ballistic - fast. Must be learnt through combat application as Yang LuChan taught. Then slow flow-mo for experimenting and experiencing the Grand-Ultimate.

@@Sammo247 if you want to practise it that way and it suits you, then that is great. Others may want to learn different aspects of Tai Chi or practise according to their particular style, lineage and teacher. Not everyone does it the same way. Even the way you do it now, will most likely change over time as you evolve in your practice. The Yang Luchan way was his way. As far as I know there is no archive footage to show exactly how he did his Tai Chi. Some of those he taught would have modified it and some were influenced or taught by other teachers/masters and this lead to further modifications. It doesn't mean that the Tai Chi further down the line is wrong, although obviously it may appear different.
