I'm FINALLY back from the dead! Sorry this one took so long! But welcome to episode 5 of Hidden Gems, where we take a look at the adorable PS1 game, Tail Concerto! I was obsessed with this game when I was 15, and even though I feel like it didn't realize it's full potential, I still feel it's a fun little adventure with enough charm to make up for it's shortcomings, and can still be enjoyable for those who are able to accept it's simplicity.
Also, yay for finally making an episode in HD! I'm honestly surprised my ancient laptop didn't explode during the rendering process :P

A lot of the criticisms you had for this game were pretty much addressed in Solatorobo, and the world building is also way more fleshed out in that game as well. The only thing that Solatorobo still has a bit of an issue is that the islands are still relatively small, but there's like 20 of them to visit in that game and they are very different from each other as well. Fuga and it's upcoming sequel on the other hand are very different games. They're linear turn based RPGs that have you doing resource and party management during intermissions. They're a very on rails experience, but the combat is really fun and deciding whether or not to take on the hard or easier paths depending on how good or bad you're doing along the road can be pretty meaningful.

This was such a great video! Tail Concerto is one of my all time favorite games and you presented it so well in th8s video. Plus I learned several things I didn't know, so thank you! I completely agree with it needing more. It is such an intresting world with such a loveable cast that if it had expanded the areas, made more areas playable andaybe extended the story, it would have been superb. SolatoRobo somewhat did that, but it just didn't hit that good spot like Tail Concerto for me. While I enjoyed SolatoRobo, it's just eh in my opinion and I wasn't too fond where the story went in the second part. Tail Concerto will always have a special spot in my heart and I sure I'm happy to see new merch of it coming out as of late. I've been trying to grab as much as I can from CyberConnect2's online shop whenever possible ❤

Same story bro. Had the demo disc. Thought it was interesting. Found myself wondering years later just "what the heck was going on in that game." Glad to have finally played through it. It's a nice little break from a world that is very often the opposite of this game. Also happy to see the company that made it is still around and kicking.

THANK GOODNESS!!! I thought I was the only one who loved or knew about this game or the rest of its series!!! This was my first video I have seen from you but it’s production quality was great and the topics you covered had a lot of effort put into it!!! I am now a subscriber!! Keep up the good work!!

Too kind! Thank you very much! I'm so happy knowing you enjoyed this episode, it was tons of fun to make 😊 And I agree, not enough people know about this game, or the Little Tail Bronx series in general. I grew up loving this game though, hence why I just HAD to make a video on it 🙂

So this game is the predecessor to Solatorobo which I loved on my DS. I had no idea. That's pretty cool, I need to give this a try!

A lot of the things that you mentioned about expanding the game at the end of the video, were supposed to be added in the sequel, but because of the poor sales, Bandai didn't let them to make a sequel. Which is really sad because Tail Concerto is my favorite PS1 game.

Solatorobo is pretty much that sequel although it follows a different cast of characters with the Tail Concerto characters making some cameos here and there.

I hear Panta's voice and I can only think of Bubsy. Oh wait they also share the same voice actor (who is also Lani Minella in Bubsy 3D no less)

Great review of the prequel of my favorite ds game and tail concerto is such a ridiculous gem never gets a port or a re-release on modern platforms and I was kind of hoping you will talk about the special novel Tail Concerto After it was only released in Japan but thanks to the little tail bronx fan base it got translated and it is an interesting read.

I too have a soft spot for furries and anthropomorphic characters most importantly cats, and dogs, it is indeed a good game despite it's flaws and it does have good character design, level design, a good story, and a good soundtrack, and it had charm, and I think that Waffle Ryebread is a good main character, and not bad for Cyberconnet2's first game, and I would have love to have this game and it's successor Solatorobo Red the Hunter in my collection but the bad thing is that they are both are rare that they cost over 200 to 300 dollars nowadays and that sucks, and besides Rouge the Bat, and Waffle Ryebread himself, and Panta Lani Minella was known for her other roles in games such as Astal and and all different characters in the Sega Saturn game Astal, Sarah Needlemeyer in the Nightmare Ned game, Pit, Lucas, and Lyn in Super Smash Bros Brawl, Larry Koopa, Lemmy Koopa, Wendy Koopa, and Morton Koopa Jr. in New Super Mario Bros Wii, Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS, and Super Smash Bros Ultimate, The Narrator in the Medievil PS4 remake, Ruff and Tumble and their mother in 40 Winks another underrated PS1 game, Ivy Valentine in some of the Soulcalibur games, Bubsy Bobcat in the bad Bubsy 3D, the Night Mother, Nocurmal, Aranea, Lenith, Cindiri, Arano, Dravynea the Stoneweaver, Idesa Sadri, Iidari Sarothril, Irileth, Jenassa, Marise Aravel, Niluva Hlaalu, Priestess of Boethiah, Sabine Nytte, Suvaris Atheron, Synda Llanith, Tilisu Severin, Katria, and Female Dunmer in The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim, Lacie Benton in Bendy and the Ink Machine, Pesta in God of War 2018, Clickers, Runners, and Bloaters in The Last of Us 1 and 2, Silitha, and Tiamat in Darksiders, The Jungle Elder in Rad Rogers World One, Eve and Asari Medic in Mass Effect 3, she also did background voices in the 1992 animated movie FernGully The Last Rainforest which starred Samantha Mathis, Jonathan Ward, the late Robin Williams, and Tim Curry and it was her debut role too, and she was also in It Chapter Two, and also besides Rouge the Bat she also played Omochao. And from what I understand and do know is that the reason that Tail Concerto went under the radar back in the day was due to a lack of marketing, and some good games that were released during the time in 1998 and 1999 respectively which includes Banjo Kazooie, Crash Banticoot Warped, Sonic Adventure along with the Sega Dreamcast, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, F-Zero X, Resident Evil 2, Metal Gear Solid, Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage, Super Smash Bros, Donkey Kong 64, Crash Team Racing, Final Fantasy 8, Rayman 2 The Great Escape, Mario Golf, Ape Escape, Medal of Honor, Shenmue, Mario Party 1 and 2, Silent Hill, Resident Evil 3 Nemesis, Pac Man World, and Soulcalibur. it is surprising that this game had left such a legacy despite being a hidden gem when it comes to Cyberconnet2 having interests in making a sequel, and the creation of Mamoru-Kun, Solatorobo Red the Hunter, the short lived Little Tail Story, and the soon to be released Fuga Melodies of Steel, and I listened to the opening song done by Kokia I think it's good and sounded awesome, and not bad for her debut at the time. I can relate to Alicia because I too lost my father, and not just him 2 of my uncles too, and sometimes I can't help but feel resentment and just kept it to myself, I know what it's like to lost a father, and I also know what it's like to feel resentment and it sucks but that's the part of life we all have to face and come to terms with it, some other characters I can relate to when it comes to losing a father or father figure are Simba from the Lion King. Tiana's Father from The Princess and the Frog, Peter Parker/Spider Man, Bruce Wayne/Batman, Naruto Uzumaki from Naruto, Goku from the Dragon Ball series, Hiccup from the How to train your Dragon series, Fox McCloud from the Star Fox series, the 2012 to 2017 version of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Karai, and Otis from Barnyard, it goes to show that sometimes life can be cruel. I would love to see this game along with Solatorobo Red the Hunter get ported or remade if Cycberconnet2 would consider it I still would love it play it and Solatorobo Red the Hunter.
