Hey Adam, I quit riding the dragon about 12 yrs ago when the crazy drifting cars started driving it. Way too dangerous and like you said there are plenty of better roads in WNC. If you get a chance take hwy 215 off of the BRP, both tight and sweeping curves, taking you by a mountain lake. I grew up near there. BTW, mile markers start when you enter NC. Love your videos.

Thanks for video of the Dragon. I was curious what it was like but skipped the Dragon when I was down recently mainly cause of all the wrecks I've heard about it, but did ride many of the roads around that area and they were beautiful full of plenty of twisties and scenic views. The back road between Cherokee and Maggie Valley was incredible.

Nice video Adam and I was happy to see you taking it easy in the corners. No need to be racing through there especially on a cruiser. I lost it on a hairpin turn in AZ following a couple guys on Ducati's and I was on an Indian Scout. The corner wasn't marked and I guess I came in a little fast. Lesson learned; ride at your own pace and enjoy the ride.

You either love or hate the dragon.....it's a very technical road to ride on and I've done both many times on my bike and car and loved both . The moonshiner 28 a great road as well of a few others in the area. I use to ride with the sports bike guys when I had my FJR but as you get older there's a little less need to hit triple digits like I used to be. Great area to see the fall colors and I'm glad you made the ride there. Keep it between the ditches my friend.

Awesome! Like you I prefer the more open sweepers. That said, when the view is just trees, it's a case of, seen one tree, seen 'em all, it then becomes a case of enjoying what the road has to offer and going for it - that is, a call for more spirited riding.

Your review of the Dragon was perfectly timed for me! I'm 42 years old, was diagnosed with cancer last summer, and my one year anniversary of being on chemo is coming up on October 21. As I watched you ride across America, I was encouraged to follow my own dreams and this past June, I took the rider course at HD. Then came the incredibly hard job of convincing my husband to let me have a bike of my own. We have two kids (daughter 12 and son 8) and hubby is terrified of motorcycles. For me, being diagnosed with cancer was a wake up call that said whatever things I've been putting off doing, whatever dreams are out there to be chased, I had better live while I can and take advantage of this time where my form of chemo is relatively easy to tolerate. There will be a time when my gentle chemo pills will stop working, and I'll have to turn to more drastic treatments. So again, in the meantime, live my life to the full. Hubby finally bought me a 2017 HD Fat Boy about two months ago and I've ridden the heck out of him. I've been trying to decide how to celebrate my one year chemo milestone, and have been really interested in riding the Tail of the Dragon as my own personal way of honoring this year. However, the more I see videos of cars coming across the center line, the less excited I am about the Dragon. You mentioned Moonshiner 28, and also said there are much better rides in the area. Would you elaborate on that? I live in Georgia, so it's not a hard trip for me to get to the area. It's just a thing when knowing other rides might be more fun for me helps me make the decision. Thanks, Adam, for the way you support and encourage so many other people. Please know there are many of us who may never get the honor of riding with you in person, but we ride with you in spirit. Keep it up, brother!

Adam, hope you had fun on the Dragon. We did it a couple of years ago.....in our Dodge Ram 4x4. We were on vacation without our bike. Even in our big vehicle, that road scares the crap out of me. Too many "thrill seekers" without fear...or brains, that cause the accidents. Glad you made it. You're right, there are better, more enjoyable rides, like the Blue Ridge Parkway, etc.

Everybody wants to ride it, until they get there...It's a "fast cornering" ride..more suited for Cafe bikes and Croch Rockets...To make any speed takes a "High Level" Biker...Not to much fun on a "Dresser" Harley..It's about dragging your knees on every corner..I live near there and have rode it all my life..I never once took any of my Harley's there..I would reccomend a 500-600cc bike for first timers..My first run was 52 years ago on a 750 Norton...I have been in love with it ever since..I bet if you did it on a RD350/400 You would love it!!..You do have to watch out for Cars but the occasional 18 wheeler will terrify you..lol..Love your Vlog and will check out your other stuff. 🏍👍👍👍🇺🇸

I agree with your assessment of the Tail of the Dragon. It's a road that functions as a good test of your skills. I will say after having ridden it for the first time a couple weeks ago myself, I am much more confident in corners than I used to be. I've only been riding for 4 years so I'm relatively inexperienced compared to your high-mileage career. I hope you had a chance to ride Cherohala Skyway. I suspect that would be a better fit for your riding style. Plenty of nice viewpoints as well.

Hi Adam, I was at the dragon in September for the first time, I really enjoyed it, it is a very technical road and you MUST pay attention every second. You can get out of shape and get in trouble in a blink of an eye. As I said, I did have a blast knowing what to expect. I do a lot of riding in the Catskills near Woodstock NY and those roads are what we prefer, long sweeping turns on wide roads that you can keep your speed up and soak in the mountain vistas. Maybe check it out next time you're in the northeast. Thanks, good video.

Looks like a daring/fun ride for this amateur. I've never ridden curves such as those.

A good ride is 136 out of Lafayette GA over Lookout mountain over to Sand mountain Alabama then off the north side down to the Chickamaga Dam. If you're ever up in north Georgia

I like what you’re doing on the road. I respect it. I agree with your opinion on the dragon. I’ve had the opportunity to ride it multiple times, but chose other roads instead for much of the same reason you don’t like the dragon. Lots of traffic and reckless riding. I’d choose Highway 209, “The Rattler”, in Hot Springs, NC over the dragon any day. Also be sure to check out the Little parkway in Blowing Rock. See you on the road, Roach

I agree. Although dragon is nice. I prefer the sweeping turns and beauty in the NWA-Ozarks. Slower=Safety=Ride Another Day.
