Nothing wrong with that welding Matty. I've been welding for 40 years and built machines that cost millions. You've got it well in there and it won't let go, trust me ! When it comes to glueing metal, I know my shit 😁😁😁

seems like a decent job, good work! if i had to say probably not how i'd choose to do it. i think if i made one; i'd make a second quill for the tail stock that winds all the way in the tail stock with some beefy AF tapered roller bearings on the part sticking out as close to the tail stock as possible for support with the chuck adapter plate/hub well supported by those two big bearings.

Hi Matty That's, great that Max sent you, his drawings. Your welding of the parts looks good to me. I don't have flood coolant on my lathe, so I just use a cool mist set up with cutting oil. it makes a little bit of smoke but I can deal with that. Cheers

Great job Matty. I used to be one of the best Professional welders but now my 70 year old eyes and arthritic joints and trifocal glasses have ruined my beautiful welding . Now if it meets the job i am doing then i do not loose any sleepover it. Max is also a big favorite of mine. I'll be here for part 2. Thanks again for all your hard work . You always do Grade A work.

Hi Matty, I recently made one using a ford laser front wheel bearing, double race prepacked with grease for life, sealed and preloaded. Mine has a 4" 3 jaw chuck but in my humble opinion 3MT same as your lathe just does not cut it, not rigid enough. Need a bigger lathe!

Hi Matty, Have you tried increasing either the feed or spindle speed when using the WNMG trigon to get the chip breaking working so as to avoid the stringy swarf? It loves to work hard. would not bother with the cutting oil, either dry or full flood coolant. Andy UK

You have a bit of OCD. I completely understand. I often think that my work is subpar too. That's something I understand.

Ich würde mich schämen so ein Video ins Netz zu stellen. Du hast kein einziges Mal einen Spanbruch zusammen bekommen. Anstatt mit Kühlschmierstoff zu kühlen schmierst du dieses Öl drauf, daß nur qualmt und sonst nichts bringt. Schließlich drehst du mit Wendeplatten und nicht mit HSS Messern. Deine Schweißkunst lässt auch zu wünschen übrig. Die Schweißnaht sieht aus wie von einem Lehrling im ersten Lehrjahr. Ich habe mir viele Videos von euch Amerikanern angesehen und muss sagen, daß keiner von euch besser ist. Wenn einer aus Amerika etwas drauf hat, dann ist er ein Eingewanderter in erster Generation.
