Theres a paint made specifically for showers and sinks, that once you get your water fixed, you could paint them instead of replacing everything. So much cheaper.

We had really bad iron, but they sell water softener systems, they come in all sizes. Large enough for both families. It will go at the well

Over the weekend I saw a set up that comes straight from the tap with no need for electric and a three filter system says it will last 24 months and still leave the good minerals behind. Called WATERDROP. Looks like it had great reviews for a kitchen unit.

Have you ever tried cleaning vinegar with backing powder? that seemed to work very well too. I clean my toilet, shower and sink with it.

I remember my grandmas and grandpaw well become sulfur water. It made the whole house smell. When they ran city water and they got hooked up, they even had to replace all the water lines in the house or it would keep on smelling

❤Hi Guys. When I lived in Vt years ago we had a water softener with a tank where we added salts that took out the iron. I think it was call red out. We bought it at our local hardware store. It does work. We just had to keep an eye out on it to refill the salts again. Trust me it does work and it also took away that nasty sulfur smell. Just check it out. We talked with different Well Companies up there and they said this was the only method that works for getting the iron out. Good Luck.🦃🤠😎👍✌️🙏💞💯

Interesting to know that the partial plastic stuff can be stained... vs porcelain that stayed nice. For folks deciding what to buy that good to know...esp if they have wells with iron water. Wells are a blessing in so many ways.

When my Gram had her well she had rust here to come find out that when they redrilled the well the driller didn't go far enough down he only drilled till he hit water and didn't go further down enough. Her well was like 350 ft in the end. They lived off the well for many years before she was able to get city water due to a housing plan going in beside her property.

Hey guys. Love your videos. Question..... have you considered using rain water for your house hold use, and using your filter system for outside and plants? You are elevation change to collect lots of rain water and it rains a ton there. Collect it, pump it into your house. Or maybe just for your drinking water? Just a suggestion.

Yup, always allow extra time (sometimes days) to anything construction related. Lack of supplies, delivery delays, forgot to order something, long travel time to get stuff. It never ends. No use to get upset about it. You guys have the right attitude!

We also have very strong iron in out house. I have to wash the bathroom at least twice a week. And yes no white clothes here. LOL The solution is a iron blaster. But a very costly item we have to save for. We have a softener a filter system and a UV light. Still have iron.

A water softener is supposed to take care of iron. I'd look into that, as it may be not working correctly.

All these plans and preparations and cleaning up and getting clean water systems, and the moonshot toilet et cetera are all very complicated at times and can take a lot more time and effort than anticipated. That’s the way life works. But one issue has NOT been addressed, and I can’t be the only person who has noticed Whatever happened to the heart-shaped sunglasses? They haven’t been around in a while now! I’m worried 😮😢

Hi y’all! Great to see your progress. I would like to make a suggestion for the back inside of your commode. Empty the water from the entire toilet, fill it with Coca Cola, or a generic equivalent (about 5 liters) it will need time to work, overnight if possible. It should break up all the rust and deposits. Good luck.

Iron out in the softener. We also have super iron in the water. And we are on a well that has never run dry, even in the hot years! Right now, the water is running out the door, the water is so high! And hanging a clorox tablet in your tank on the toilet might help with the rust, too.

good morning mel and gary we have the same exact problem up here on the mountain in upstate ny we have hard water also and i have to constantly scrub the toilets sinks every other day also here i use limeway clorox clean up lcr and the toilet still stains no matter how hard i try

Use "Iron Out". It works the best for iron stains.

Filters help. You have to change them often though.

@@user-nk6tg2iv1i If you buy the right filters, they can be low maintenance and will remove the iron. There's some salt-free water softeners and well water filters that remove the rust through oxidation and special filtering and back-flushing. They would have to do a water test to see how hard their water is and go from there to find the right one. A typical sediment filter won't cut it. But there are a few good options available.

mornin y'all... our well is the same way I go through a lot of magic erasers tried to keep the tub lookin somewhat clean and a lava rock (on a handle...temu of course😂) for the toilet bowl I throw a little bit of awesome in the tank and scrub all the sediment loose I really can't wait to move 😂 ~ we're just renting this place until we find a home to buy

We lived in rural Missouri and had well water. We put in the reverse osmosis system and it worked very well. No orange toilets or tubs!! It also made the water taste better. Good luck.

And yes, Mel and Gary you can plan for a project to take X amont of time, but it seems to take twice as long I was general contractor for years. Something always changes the time line. You just have to stay positive. Everything will get done in the lords time. Only thing is he doesn't have someone going WHEN WHEN WHEN!!!!! with lots of love from your crazy friend in ohio

Ya we had alot of iron in our water in Michigan it would eat my faucets and destroy the hot water heater. Definitely need a system that starts the sec the water comes in at. ❤

You can't install a roof before you build the roof. Roofing gets installed after framing.

Greetings from Northeast Ohio. I cringe every time I see those tree to heaven down there by the garden. You have to be able to tell how they have tripled in size since last year. They are not easy to get rid of. The smaller they are when you get rid of them the better.

Big ? why are your porch rafters cut with a longer end on the lower portion without gutters rain water coming off the roof will drain down your fascial board could lead to rot of the fascial wood

To me it looks like the rafter tails are cut plumb. Gutters are the last thing that gets installed.
