Take A Solo Staycation With Me | Heights House Hotel, Raleigh NC

With everything going on in the world, I couldn't think of a better way to prioritize my own personal mental health and peace than booking a short staycation. After having a pretty stressful week, I decided to go spend the night at the Heights House Hotel in Raleigh, NC - a place that I've been wanting to visit ever since they opened last year. The goal for this staycation was three-fold:
1. To show you this amazing hotel which is only a 25 minute drive from my house AND was recently noted at one of the best hotels in the world by Travel & Leisure Magazine
2. To help prioritize my mental health and self care
3. To encourage you to book a staycation in your own town because you don't have to wait until you're on vacation to stay at an amazing hotel - you can do so right in your own "backyard"

I hoped that people would stick around long enough to read it. 💕 It’s important as its a slippery slope reading all the negativity on the news and on social media right now. Yes, we must stay informed AND we all need to take action - but we also need to understand our personal limits and know when it’s time to take a beat.

Growing up solo travel wasn’t something I learned to do unless for business. When traveling alone my fear is I will get lost - anxiety about that tends to = shopping close by and room service. I don’t get out for the experiences like you do! Your content is so helpful!

Honestly it wasn’t until living New York when I felt like if I can make it here living alone, and get home safely each day - then I can probably do it anywhere. That was my logic when I went to Spain by myself - and I haven’t looked back. I say try it locally and close to home first and then once you feel comfortable, you can always venture out! Definitely keep me posted. 😆

Oh I wanted that room but it was booked through the next several weeks. I needed the getaway immediately - but next time I will book that room for sure. You are going to love it there!!!

I love it!! Such a nice getaway for a fraction of the cost it would be to go on a full vacation. I walked away feeling just as relaxed as if I truly went away. So glad you took advantage did a staycation as well! 💕

This video couldn't have come at a better time in my life. IYKYK. Very inspiring!!!! This hotel did not miss a detail. OBSESSED with the pouch for the tip. And I laughed at your comment about the thread count 😂. I know you wanted to go out to dinner but did they serve dinner in the hotel? Or just the snacks & breakfast? If they did serve dinner I bet it would've been amazing.

They literally did not miss one single detail. And those sheets……ahhhh those sheets. If they were for sale, I would have purchased them on the spot. They do not serve dinner at the hotel but that’s ok because they are so close to the downtown area and there are tons of amazing options! But no doubt - if they did serve dinner it would be everything!!! So glad you found the video inspiring!! 😘

Jessica, I started traveling at a very young age…but my first big trip was at the age of 16 to New York with the Harlem Renaissance Club which was a organization for Black students to better understand their culture. We stayed at Hotel in the city unfortunately I do not remember the name! But to me it was BEAUTIFUL! And while it was not as posh as your spot on this trip…but to a 16 year old in NY it was all that! As I watch you build your BRAND I am reminded of they beauty that life has…and the promise! I know you are reaching a demographic that is inclusive…some with similar ideas for an ideal purpose, some who will live vicariously through your eyes and some who will meet you along the journey! I know what I think my purpose is and I need to build up some steam to get back in the game…I have never been one to sit on the sidelines I’ve always be a starter…my mother use to tell me you have the ball 🏀 now run with it! Her analogy was slightly off…lol (you run with a football, not a basketball) at any rate I haven’t done as much self care as I should during these changing times but…I will begin again. Keep you posted! I’m thinking 🤔 I’ll bring Gabrielle here for a weekend and we have never been to North Carolina…peace and SelfCare! 💕 loved every moment of this session! I love this Jen!!! I can only imagine what that experience was like at age 16. My first trip to NYC wasn’t until 23 and it literally changed everything for me. When I left I said “I will live here one day”. And 10 years later - I moved to NYC into the same neighborhood that I fell in love with during that first trip. It’s all about experiences and having access to what’s possible out in this world. I hope to provide that here on this channel as much as possible.
